My view here is that I've found pirates lately have been looking for the 'easy out'... invincible ship glitching for example - now I see a lot of pirates lately who can't shoot to save themselves from a light sloop... gold giving - sure to a second or third generation pirate thats ok but I had to do it my own the first time and I learned a lot from getting that 60k (ship and enemy movements, attack patterns, pirate needy skills!).

I don't mind helping out a fellow player - but I'm not a free War Frigate Bank either. If ya don't earn them - ya don't appricate them... just another big boat on the ocean. When I got my first one many moons ago, I remember the third time I launched it and a bunch of guys in local chat in another boat beside me started talking: 'WOAH what is that?' - 'Thats a War Ship!'... that day I was happy I had worked SO hard to get that boat... now - I have all kinds of players begging me for money to buy a boat... why? You'll have more money than dirt soon enough - just save up a bit, buy the boat, and feel pround about it...

Maybe when they come out with custom ships or the next ship type I'll forget this babble of 'earning the right of ship passage'... and I'll still be handing out dough to those on quests and things who need a helping hand - but I don't think I'll ever be a 'ship bank'

Ok, I feel better now - just had to get that off my chest LOL

Basil adds another good tip - watch for the Tell Signs... they too indicate if you should do another round or bail and try again
lol Max, I have to agree though......it feels a lot better knowing that YOU earned the war ship on your own.

Well anyways back on topic.....nice tips that you have all pointed out that can prove useful to some people who can't do this.

Ok, my 2nd is getting ready to "retire". Unfortunately she is RICH!!!! I've alrady funneled 60k to one of my others but after selling off clothes, jewelry, tats and ships she still has 55k to get rid of. I'm not puttin her out to pasture with all that gold!!!
Currently playing poker is the only way she can give money to my other pirates or friends.
Why can't we have a BANK. Your gold goes into it up to the max limit per pirate but, ALL your pirates can withdrawl from the account, again up to the max.
Granted this wouldn't give money to friends or guild mates but you can always lose to them. This would elimate the need to lose to a friend just to have them lose to one of your others.
As for the actual doing, I've found that if after the flop the comps haven't folded I cut my loses, stand up and go for the next hand.
