You and others, on the other hand, think that rude behavior should be implicitly encouraged. That mentality leads to idiocy like the KH invulnerability glitch. Last edited by Lady Freckles; 09-23-2008 at 04:44 AM.. Reason: Flaming/Language |

Punished by Me Only
I have a rule of thumb with rep stealers....they start it and I finish it.
You steal my rep, I will then play by your rules, which I think is quite fair. I follow a rep stealer for a while after they strike, and take a share of everything they touch. Granted, I'm taking my share with flame from a mastered staff, but we all work with what we have. They then, nine times out of ten, ask me "why are you doing this?" When I point out what they did to me and explain that I am just joining their method of play, more often then not, they get a clue and apologize, and I move on my merry way. The most annoying rep stealers I have experienced are new staff holders who think leveling their staff is more significant than any and all. Note added as Edit: I don't literally think of rep stealing as "rep stealing" anymore then I think of crab apples as being apples made from crabs, but EVERYONE knows what your speaking of when you say it. I know it's just a game!!!!
That being said, When I go through the pain of finding an empty KH so that I can get behind the fence to level nades, I'm there for about 15 minutes and making nice progress,, Nothing irks me more than 2 or 3 people moving in as a gang, rampaginf the parade grounds, and ruining the entire thing. Now, why should I have to find another server, sail from some other island, and keep doing that until I find another clean place to work nades? Sharing is one thing, and I have always offered to share when someone shows up at my area, but when they just take over, that is unacceptable rudeness.

Some seem to argue we are thinking we own the field, but thats not the case, we are willing to share. Its those disrupting everything that seem to be exercising the acting as if they own it mentality. Anyhow when this happens I usually just make a feeble attempt at continueing what I was doing for a short while. Often the bore quickly and move on, and im back to business. If not, I usually TP out to find another quiet KH (usually with a quick smart remark on my way out... gotta be me.. lol). As far as turning the rep stealing on the rep stealers, never thought of that.. Might be worth a shot. hehe |

I'm with you Zep. It's a struggle just to go to Kingshead and get all set up ready to do some leveling, just to get interupted. Switch servers and start all over again, just to have it happen again in 15 minutes.
Taking turns has always worked well for me, but not all ppl are willing to do this. I have met some great ppl doing this and formed some good friendships. My only problem has been them ppl that think they deserve all the reps and are not willing to take turns. That's usually when I turn on them and start hitting everything just to show them how it feels. I've always been a polite ppl, but sometimes you feel like you are the only one that is that way. Nice to see other POF ppl feel the same as I do about being polite and fair. |

I met a couple of great pirates yesterday on KH. I got there and they were already working grenades, and having just gotten them (on Mary), I was not in the mood to server hop. Opened right up with "hey there, can we take turns?". Not only did we take turns, but they asked me to crew for a little extra rep.
So, there are those that know how to share out there, You just gotta ask And Molly, thanks for keeping company while tossing rocks...man that gets boring if you're all alone!

I never get lower or higher rep if someone comes by and as people say "rep steal". As soon as someone comes over to defeat enemies I'll ask if they want to be on a crew so we can get extra rep. (Isn't that how everyone does it?) You'd think it'd be common sense if you ran into someone to ask to be on a crew for more rep. |

Nice vs Nasty
I've taken turns at Kingshead...it was fun. I've turned over the whole group to new staffers who have moved in on me in their anxiousness, crewed them, and healed them for a good hour or so. I have no problem sharing with lower levels, questers who need a few hits to fill a quest list, etc. NOT what most of us mean by rep stealers. We know how to share, to crew, to take turns. NOT the problem.
![]() Example of an experience with my idea of a rep stealer: at Tormenta ALONE with lower lvl friend, disabling molusks for him to work on. In comes a lvl 39, makes a beeline past bored molusks, urchinfists, etc., and proceeds to annihilate the one molusk my friend was working on. Does it again. Friend says "can you please not do that." His response, "go somewhere else where you won't get killed," and he continues to attack ONLY THE ONES I DISABLED for my friend. Friend gives up and leaves, he continues to do the same to me (lvl 37 at the time). Crewing him (rejected, by the way) would have resulted in the fantastic bonus of 60 pts + 20% crew bonus instead of the 120-165 I was getting by myself. Yeah!! This is one of my most recent, but by far not my worst or rudest, experiences with what I call a rep stealer ( not literally, ok?). |

![]() Try getting 8-10 pts total for all the mobs in a bunch (less if someone is 'sharing' at the same time). Not even enough for a crew bonus to be applied ![]() In these cases, youd rather share/take turns than take a chance at getting +0 for some. |

not to be rude...
Rep stealing is just a term in the game, because when were fighting an enemy and their almost dead, some one comes in and kills them.
That would be rep stealing, because the rep gets halfed, halfed again, then split to the person with more to them than you. I think that shouldnt be done, but on the other hand, if you attack an enemy and some one wants to join in, that would just be helping or doing watever. i think they can help, as long as the enemys health is in green, and not yellow or red. There are a few people that steal rep on purpose, just because they couldnt beat the enemy them selfs. I think that needs to be stopped. What term where you using of " rep stealing " ? Quote:
