Dumb idea methinks. (And thinks strongly, savvy?) It'd be kinda stupid to have to be punished without a warning, and any warning would just kill the game for me.
Not to mention the fact that it is no problem worthy of punishment anyway. |

TTC had these problems so it's only on the holidays now. I miss it so I was thinking this thread seems right. But rep stealing is impossible in the game. It splits the rep evenly. If you think someone is stealing rep then go away and find another spot where no oe will bother you. |

That is demonstrably false. Sorry, but you are totally incorrect.

Nothing for nothing...but like in any other game...stuff happens...and yea though it may be rude, we are Pirates...each and everyone one of us...
Remember the swordfight in the 1st movie between Jack and Will when Will was distracted a split second only for Jack to have drawn his pistol and Will proclaimed "You cheated" and Jack replied "Pirate!"...??? Or one of the many various catch phrases - "Take what you can, give nothing back"... Heck, I even remember watching one of the Survivor tv seasons when they were in the Carribean and after both teams were made to walk the plank they all rowed back to shore...then once on shore each team had to get supplies...well one of the most beloved persons ever to have been on the show, Rupert, saw the other teams stuff sitting on the ground drying off which he happily stated "well we are in the land of Pirates so I'm gonna do what a Pirate would" and wound up taking the other teams shoes...lol Players who "rep steal" are just being Pirates...trying to get ahead and like so many have said, we've all been there...yes they can be annoying just as I'm sure at one time when we started out we were the same way until we learned and followed an "unwritten code of honor", a generic code basically in any and all games once you learn it and respect it... And sure they could be courteous about it, just as players should be overall when higher lvl players help them out...if these people would take the time out to be more courteous, I'm sure they'd find more players being more approachable and willing to help them... But again, stuff happens...please don't sweat the small stuff... |

One could be an intense griefer, cheater, stalker, etc in the game and make the same claim. It's not a valid excuse, folks need to stop thinking the genre of the game gives them a green light to be inconsiderate towards others. But I agree with this |

It is fascinating to me that in this game there is an assumption that a behavior that is generally considered extremely rude in other MMORPGs is assumed to be perfectly fine here. No, I'm not talking about "rep stealing." I'm talking about camping at spawn points. The whole concept of "rep stealing" presumes that it is okay to just sit at a spawn point (like the field at KH) and you "own" the mobs that spawn there because you have invested your time in waiting for them. Now, I know this game sort of motivates that bad behavior because it does not give enough non-grinding activities for higher level players, but that really does not excuse the fact that you are staking a claim to the commons and most everywhere else, that is the behavior that would be seen as rude.

But dont see this as being that much of an issue actually, as its the attitudes of those in the situation that make all the difference. The only time such areas become a subject is when those wanting to use a resource, find it already taken, and those that are already there are not willing to share it, or those that just showed up are not willing to share it. I only get adamant with people that try to TAKE OVER and put their needs above mine, and encourage me to leave. If I want a place to myself, I take the time to find it. And if people come along, what ensues depends on thier demeanor and action. Some are polite and ask to jump in/share (cool). Some just jump in for a minute to get something they need and take off (cool). Some just jump in, and purposefully try to ruin it for you to cause you disinterest so YOU Leave and let them have it to themselves (RUDE. KEELHAUL'EM!) |

[Forgot it was Int'l Talk Like a Pirate Day] Arrrgh! That be just what I be thinkin. Nobody be ownin any of the mobs. Any landlubber what be thinkin they do own the mobs is just askin for their own trouble - be they gettin there ahead of me and campin or be they gettin there after me and squawkin fer me ter get gone. Anyone be callin another pirate a rep stealer is callin emself a camper an I've got no room aboard me ship fer the like.
But, it would help if we had more interesting things for high levels to do. |

Every time I see the field in Kingshead, I wonder where the soldiers are. Every time I see only six (instead of six hundred) I am left wondering what the heck they were thinking.
That aside, Zep, you don't consider sharing to be rep-stealing? If they were polite about it, it is NEVER an issue - the entire thread is only about the times where manners are lacking, isn't it? If someone is TAKING TURNS then it is not rep-stealing. Again, instead of reporting, how about punishing them? Free teleport to another server! Port Royal is lovely this time of year, I hear... |

If people are sharing, there is no theft. Yes, there is less rep per second per pirate because mobs only spawn so fast, but that is an issue of underdevelopment of the in-game challenges for higher level pirates (not, I think, a subject that warrants punishing anyone except by cancelling your subscription). I don't think this is how most of the posters on this subject in this thread or the many others view it, though. They are frustrated by the lower rep per pirate per second (or weapon investment) and they consider the people who came later as having caused that problem for them. I know how they feel. I've searched for a quite server, sailed to KH, and found people already grinding there. All you can do in that situation is try to share and be willing to walk away. But, I'm also saying the same goes for the person who was there first. When I'm grinding away and someone comes up to the same spot, I can't be thinking possesively about my spot. It is a two way street and a lot of the discussion seems to forget that fact. If we are agreed that sharing is good (even if not as personally rewarding as having all the goodies to yourself) and hogging of any sort is bad, then maybe the question should be whether all the hogs can/should be punished.

No, it is true. How is there such a thing? Fighting an enemy and then having someone come fight with you does NOT rep steal! Tell me how is it possible to steal rep? That's not stealing it's called sharing. If you don't like to share then leave. If there was such a thing it's not bad enough to be punished for. If someone came by fighting my enemies I would walk away and get my own enemies. Last edited by Lady Freckles; 09-23-2008 at 04:44 AM.. Reason: Flaming |

Ok im clearing this up
This is a game If that isnt enough i'll keep going There are 2000 Enemies respawned in each server at 1 time There are like 15 islands ( not accurate ) There are probably 50 Servers ( 100,000 enemies ) If your're really striving to get 40 a little help wouldnt be that bad unless the person killed yer enemie in 1 hit then ask them to use a weaker weapon. Again This is a GAME!!!! There were some times where i wished i could kick everyone out of the server but im 40 now no big deal. |

I'm not saying they have a green light to be rude...all I said was they're acting, well like Pirates...but again just because they're doing so doesn't mean they should be inconsiderate of other players...there's more then enough to go around for everyone... |
