I bought Unlimited Access after experiencing it during the Unlimited Weekend. I'm sure many players have had the same thing happen to them.

It's subtle advertising. Give UA to all players for just one weekend - by the end of it the money will be flooding in. Disney hasn't said outright that they don't have enough funds to do big events and contests, so I wouldn't just assume that their 'lack of updates' is due to insufficient funds.

If the game doesn't meet your standards, don't play it. It's the best advice I can give you.
