What happened to...

I think it has been about 2 years since the Unlimited Weekend event. Anyone know why they don't do it anymore? Or is it just a temporary thing?

They are so low on funds that they can't afford to do it again, just how they can't afford to run contests that give away real-world prizes.

It's a shame to what DMG has come to...

Having an unlimited weekend won't lower funds. If anything, the people who have never experienced unlimited access will see how much more you can do with it rather than basic access, leading these people to possibly buy unlimited access for the first time.

They might not do it anymore just because it may have upset the unlimited players at the time because basics were getting three days of benefits for free. (I don't know about this, but you know how some people are).

1. Do you have evidence that they are low on funds? That's quite a strong statement to make without having anything to support it.

2. As Chalupa said, it would not lower funds at all, and would likely raise funds. Basics would enjoy the temporary Unlimited Upgrade and a significant number would likely upgrade themselves.

I have wondered this for a little while too. I'd imagine that they might have at least one per year, but they don't. I wouldn't actually be too surprised if they had one in the next few months, after Ship Customization is released. I'd imagine that many basics, after having a taste of it, would want more and would upgrade.

They'll likely have some in the future, but how near is hard to tell.

Here's your proof:

Item 1

Item 2

(Hint for #2: June 28th)

Item 3:
  • Lack of commumincation
  • playerbase care
  • support services (now rude when you claim something negative, but true, about the company)
  • no developer patches to the live game
  • No more "real-world" prize giveaways/contests
  • Phone support closed and reopened at a cheaper site (funds must be low)

Yeah, just make the unlimited access angry that people don't have to pay to play through the whole game (even though its small and short).

I know, they would make people "believe" its worth buying unlimited after playing 2 days, but you can only make so much progress in those days.

The developers aren't even trying to communicate with us anymore. How can you be so exstatic when the people who gave us the game don't bother checking in once in a while with a letter posted on the official website? Remember they used to get paid for doing that?

They don't get paid for it anymore = therefore, it won't happen again.

Forget the ones paying for Unlimited Access because in a matter of a couple weeks, my one month unlimited will be gone and ever since 2007, I've known how annoying it is to be basic, even though basic access on pirates is way better basic than on other [certain] games.

The Unlimited Access players can be jerks alot (not all of them, just the ones who don't like the fact that Basic members can finally experience Unlimited. And they need to chill out because IT'S ONLY FOR 3 DAYS

Davy_Mcwrecker 12-03-2011 04:43 AM

But that's not fair to them, Tia, because the UA members PAID for those 3 days, with REAL money.

The times they do this, they NEED to add extra days to the UA members, or add 1 time only items to them...

Tia 12-03-2011 05:16 AM

Ever heard of fairness? Some people aren't even able to pay for 3 days.
Sure, Disney can repay the 3 days to the UA members, but we need some chances at UA too

Davy_Mcwrecker 12-03-2011 05:41 AM

Life isn't fair... If you want the UA, you need to save up the money. I made $100+ off of ground coins in a year, and that is without a job (( For adults...)), or family help ie: birthday money (( Kids...)).

Plain and Simple.

Dang.... 10k ground coins you found?

You must have been saving up for years man...

I think that's awesome!

Davy_Mcwrecker 12-03-2011 06:12 AM

Nononononono!!!! Not $10,000!!! I made $100+ the + means higher, so a I got a little more than 100 bucks.

Sorry, didn't want it to seem I got more than I did...

Yeah, but ground coins would mean (or more):

1) 10,000 pennies

2) 2000 nickles

3) 1,000 dimes

4) 400 quarters

5) Combined with some/all coin types

I didn't mean you made $10,000 in cash. I meant you found either the coins stated above or a combination of all the types of coins combined.

Davy_Mcwrecker 12-03-2011 06:46 AM

O.

I need to read more clearly next time.
