Yes we both discovered how this glitch worked together in the game. Everytime he would open fire, I would get poisoned. We found out it was because of the venom strike on his Assassin's Cutlass. I actually tried this using another sword with venom strike weapon. I put the sword in spot 1 (F1) and did open fire. Everybody on the ship got poisoned.
