No, I have to agree with Poison Elf on this one. I think the guy was trying to get under our skin, start an argument, start a fight, etc. just to get a reaction. And the only reaction he got from me was that I told my GM not to listen to this idiot and not to engage in this type of childish behavior. But then again he may be egotistical who knows.

I find this cyberbullying myself. What i do in real life is i just ignoring them to my best ability. Yes is should be stopped but responding makes them feel good. I myself would have reported him to Big D from the Pirates Online website afterwards.

I've seen this type of behavior in SvS many times, and yes they are trying to get under your skin to make you re-act. My response is to just go back out and sink them , over and over and over and over..... you get the idea. They eventually give up, and I win by not using words but actions. If they are taunting you they want a response. So SINK THEM. Some of my crew will resort to giving back words that match the originals and then some, (childish IMHO) but it gets old and once we've done our best to beat them, words are no longer effective or necessary. You can't control the GMs, officers or anyone else in this game and you can't blame a guild for the action of it's individual members. If it's not a personal attack don't take as such.

Thanks for the advice Maya and I would have liked to have done that but the little squirt ported off or logged but he nonetheless disappeared which I have seen a lot of that happening while svsing. And I may fuss about that a little but I know some of the peeps are questing so I just sit patiently and wait for another victim. Also, I would never blame his GM nor his guild for his actions. I know they cant babysit him nor should they should have to. He was just being a poor sport about the whole thing. After thinking about the whole incident I remembered we had sunk him several times and once he sunk us he took it upon himself to switch sides long enough to rub it our faces on how he sunk us. I really dont pay attention to names of the ships while svsing so whether I am sailing or cannoning and taking them down its nothing personal. Kani of Spartan Ellite

Another Example...
Last night I met a few Guilders in a Bar on a quiet server just to chat it up for a bit. While there - out of nowhere this guy comes in says things like 'This island is closed' - 'get off the island' - 'get out of the bar' - *pulls gun out and starts shooting us for not listening*... One of our group started to respond (actually it was a bit funny - he kept saying 'Hunh? I can't hear you?'. 'What? Speak Louder...' hehehe) but after a few minutes of that I just told the group 'Ignore him... and he'll disappear'... Sure enough - after 5 minutes of screaming at us while we continued our chat... he just left. In fact the last minute he was there he just stood there - kinda confused looking - like he didn't understand why we weren't annoyed... and moved on. -- So Rose - no person should act that way no matter who they are - but when they do the best advice I give everyone is to just ignore them - no audience = no fun and they leave anyway

ummmmmmmmmmm, yeah try the entire BBK bunch Svenny Pooooo hehehehe...... but yes when we do pick on the others we all now that it is just as a joke. We have NEVER gone to that extreme with the others. Sadly there are numerous LvL 40's who make this game hard to play. We have the report option, but yet when we do, the reported is right back the next day causing the same trouble if not more. Why allow us to report rude/hateful players if they get the free ride back. I think if u get reported for being rude or hateful ( or for anything for that matter) you should not be allowed back in the game at all this is just my opinion that all |

I remember when one of me guild mates Svs'ed for the first time. His exact words were "what is the purpose of privateering except to anger other pirates?" Enuff said??

I don't even know how to catagorize this incident, lol, but it was funny and I thot I would share. At the time it ticked me off but later on afterwards I started laughing about it. Anyhoo, this one ship was glitching during svs and I finally figured out the combo on how to take it down. Which of course ticked them off but oh, well. And I guess they decided to send a little spy around to the ships that were open to the public. Now this little spy got into our side of the privateer chat and started spouting off about how bad our side was and when I called her out (just wanting to talk to her) on it she then went silent (big surprise).
I turned around at one point off of cannon to help repair and there she stood on our ship (she was a level 22). I asked her what she wanted and she said that her friends called us a bunch of weenies! LOL! And I asked her was her friends onboard so and so ship and she replied yes. I then gave her a message to the opposing ship of friends of hers and said well, if we are a bunch of weenies how come they are sent to the bottom of the ocean time and time again by us. I then asked her to please leave our ship and not come back. I admit I did draw my cutlass on her, lol, when I said that so I guess that makes me rude but I wanted my point across that spies and derogatory (whether they were funny or childish or not) remarks weren't tolerated here. Needless to say she left but I am sure she went back to report that a level 40 pirate was on board threatening her at the point of a sword, LOL! Kani of Spartan Ellite |

I have had similar problems while in SVS. Once I had just set out and a ship attacked me I damaged it pretty good and chased him, another ship on my team started hollering at me to back off that it was "my bounty they stole it from me" and got really rude. So I out ran them sank the ship and yes I did laugh all the way to port with a HUGE bounty.

IMHO, respect starts at the top. I believe that GM's and officers need to take this into account in their behavior towards others in the game. I have great respect for my GM because he has exhibited these qualities since the day I met him. And, now being an officer, I feel that I must pass on the same sense of equality and fair play to others in and out of my guild. Rudeness doesn't cut it in real life and neither does the drama that it causes others. Why should a game be different? It is a game...many people are paying to escape the tension of life. So why disrupt anyone's fun by actions such as these. Yes, I believe that Gm's & officers should be expected to atttain a higher standard in their actions. They provide a model for others to follow. Disrespect, rudeness, and these other types of bad behavior can be found on a street corner...I, personally, don't need them on POTCO. And, lastly, this is a Disney Game with many young people. What kind of experience does this supply for them?

I think it was understood the point I was really getting at. At the time it was something upsetting, later on realizing really how silly some of these things are. Something like this happens again, you are more likely now to understand why I stated I end up laughing half the time when things like this happen.
Though I do time to time react back to some of these things ( I do have my own stubborn streaks) its a game and ya can't let something like this get under your skin. If you do, it just ends up ruining your own game, time, and fun worrying about someone being a idiot. Sometimes getting even feels good though also, better yet when they don't even realize it. I mentioned earlier on in the curse I had something like this happen. After all the whining of someone using a doll on him, I bet yet to this day this 40 level guy has no clue I took him out with siege bombs, and the doll user was no factor. Using a hill glitch doesn't make some people special how ever grand they think themselves. Sometimes there is nothing more funny than someone trying to take free shots on others and watching them throw a fit in the wrong place that it didn't work. Darn us noobs anyways, lol. Did this Gm impress me, not this day. In general I would just say ignore the entire thing as well. When there is no reaction to them, they loose interest with no confrontation. There are those that are out there though, and even at the top. I would like to believe these are not the guilds that are going to be very successful. |

Rudeness pretty much defines SvS these days. (The "porting" cowardice bragged about above, being the least of it.) Why is the high bounty ship always hiding in the middle of nowhere? I rarely SvS now. Exploits + glitches + rudeness + lag-bombing + cowardice = typical SvS. Each time out, it takes less time to be reminded why it has become as giant an eyesore of POTCO, as PvP. No matter how many times I've reported glitchers, they always reappear the next time I'm in SvS. That's the way big-D wants it to be, so that's the way it will always be. Too bad, too...could have been the best part of the game.

I did not port out of cowardice but because of the constant rude comments for defending myself when i was attacked as soon as i set out. Sinking and losing the bounty and trying to get it back are part of the fun of SVS. I had already damaged the other ship down to almost nothing when they ran it wouldnt of mattered who got the last shot I would have gotten the bounty. I ported to shut them up and went right back out on the other side so they could have a chance to sink me if they could.
