One Weapon At A Time
I have found out that is easier to level one weapon at a time rather than go nuts and level all at the same time. What I mean with this is level one and only one, don't even get another weapon. This will make it easier to level the next weapon of your choice. Your Health will be higher, allowing you to easily kill a level 18 veteran at Fort Charles with a Level One Doll without the running around. You will get an easy 100 rep points.

My 2 cents...
The downside of leveling/mastering a single weapon at a time is that our Notoriety inflates with the single weapon, diminishing the points earned from the other weapons, actually making them harder to level instead of easier as you suggest. Each weapon mastered would compound the difficulty of the next. This is why most prefer to level up thier weapons somewhat evenly, at least for the first 10-15 levels. Leveling that first 1 or 2 weapons by doing just them will make mastering THEM much easier.. but the weapons following are going to be a bit more difficult. I would have to recommend leveling your weapons somewhat evenly, its also gets a bit monotonous using one weapon the entire time

Even without our wonderful HEX Shot - I've been recently able to still pull down over 300 REP a kill from each dude I'm gettting as each weapon a) is within a few levels of each other and b) using all weapons in a fight STILL gives the weapons their ability to get up to 100 REP each (note: my newest pirate project has only 4 weapons, and getting over 300 for their use means I'm pulling in about 75 REP each now... not too shabby )

Once you pack Life Drain, you can endure alot more--skills like that help with every other weapon.

![]() I think the discussion is more around how each of us have found it easier to do it - and not a right or wrong way I guess

Depends on the weapon: the ones needing reloads aren't quite as monotonous, but, generally, they aren't as fast to level as the others are. The Staff is the fastest leveling thing, and the grenades were second up to at least 20 or so till the people started running through.
Pistol and grenades should be gotten up as soon as possible, I think, and the Doll should be too, at least before you get the Staff. The cutlass isn't boring or anything: even if rep was slowed, it could be one of the last weapons. With the dagger doing decreased damage up front, it could either be a) more likely needed to be leveled up quicker, or b) the opposite. |

As stated already there is no right or wrong way. For me in some things like grenades for example, its what will get it over fastest.
I find it like Max said, to work several things at once, and get rep in all those things, rather than working one for the same rep it gets with/without combining the others. Grenades have to be the most boring and even working them with other things, you find them way to monotonous. Working just these from start to end not doing something else would drive me more nuts than random degrades to characters. |
