What I Would Do with Weapons
Honestly, I wouldn't add any new weapons--just give more choices of the same weapons available.
HOWEVER, if I were actually adjusting weapons in POTCO, this is what I'd do: Cutlass--needs to be viewed as the primary weapon. Keep reading and ye'll see why. Pistol--no probs with the single, double, or triple-barreled varieties. BUT, they need to be DESTRUCTIVE when you hit. I mean seriously, it's a pistol for crying out loud. Additionally, they should tale a LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time to reload... most historical pirates carried anywhere from 2-4 pistols. WHy? because they worked so well, but took too long to effectively reload in battles. Dagger--good weapon, but not as destructive as the cutlass. Sure, ye can throw it, but not gazillions of times! Perhaps more suited to a sneak attack from behind.... Grenades--okay, maybe not carrying hundreds oif them would be good. These should be few and far between weapons, but exceptionally destructive. Voodoo doll. Ugh... I use it in-game for healing, but really don't like it. I'm not aware of every pirate in the Caribbean packing a voodoo doll. I'd just get rid of these, personally. Voodoo staff--Okay, I use this a LOT when boarding flagships, but again I'd just get rid of this thing. I mean until POTCO I had never even heard of a voodoo staff. Cannons--you shouldn't buy ammo for your cannons and carry it around--the Captain of the ship should stock the ship with ammo. Isn't that why the Captain gets a bonus in the first place?

i agree but on some of them let them stay but i want to new skill called "repair" with abliites for repairng faster in SVS. I also want to get voodoo and health when u kill some thing,ship tonics and a new wepon called rifle,really powerful get it at lv 40 need it to kill kraken

Bart, always an interesting read. Thank You.
I see where you're coming from. You seem to want the game as authentic as possible. I respect that. (after all, all but one of my pirates is named after a real one) However, it's a Disney game. I think a little willing suspension of disbelief is called for. If we're going to get rid of the Voodo, and have the guns take forever to load, then we may as well do away with teleportaion. I do, however, really like the idea of the ships Capt being responsible for cannon ammo. I like that a lot In my feeble state, I'm sure I would forget to stock up before taking on a crew, but that just adds to the fun. "Sorry Mates, break out the spit balls, I forgot to load up" hehe

I would like to see an ammo shop on cuba. They have a tailor shop, jewelry shop, tattoo parlor, gypsy, and a shipwright. So an ammo shop would be nice.
Also I think a crossbow would be a nice weapons addition too. And I would like them to add Shipwreck Cove to the game. The island from the third movie where all the Pirate Lords had there big meeting. It looked really kewl in the movie.

Well, I'm not really talking about authenticity as much as I am talking about keeping it within reasonable fantasy. For example, in none of the three POTC movies did anybody at any time run around with a voodoo staff. Nor did I ever see any pirate with a voodoo doll. Captain Jack Sparrow killed Barbossa with a single pistol shot to the chest.
HOWEVER--Barbossa was brought back to life, the Kraken destroyed ships, and undead Pirates and Davey Jones' crew were all too real factors in the movies. It's a little thing called a REASONABLE suspension of reality. It makes no sense that it should take 40 shots to kill a seabeard, and that a muzzle-loading pistol can be reloaded as if all it needed was to be re-****ed. That's all I'm saying about THAT. As for the captain's bonus, although true that the Captain puts his/her ship at risk and must pay for the repairs, it's equally true that the ship is not REALLY at risk and the repairs rarely cost anywhere near what the Captain's bonus is. Them's my thoughts. Rest easy mates--I don't believe Big D is reading my every word and making decisions based on what one old salt says. And yes--I am the son of a son of a sailor....

Pistol and Grenades need to be viable PvP options: it appears that they are making the Dagger an anti-doll weapon, with its backdrop damage and interupt abilities being added.
The Doll is an unreasonable option in PvP: I try to trample lightly on people using this in PvP without using my own Doll or the Staff. Personally, I think they should remove the Pistol targeting system in PvP unless charged under Take Aim 50% up or more: then, I think they should increase damage moderately. The Grenades in no way do any respectable damage, making only the passives wontable. I'd perhaps give the Pistol a slow-buffer effect: anything shot in the back gets slowed for 2 seconds: if the shot was used with Take Aim, then the 2 seconds gets added. Simply put, I hate running foes. I think I like the sound of what's being done with the Dagger, though I didn't at first. As well, it should do max damage guaranteed (at least in PvP) when fully aimed. The current damage done with Grenade should be blast effect: if the grenade hits the ground at their feet, it should do full damage. If it hits them, iunno what should happen. |

I'll foot the bill, AND load every cannon with thunderbolt and fury. Plus a rabbit in every pot, a hammock for every tired body, neberending rum in every cup, and a red Ferrari!
