Doing my second pirate a little different
I decided this time around that I would max my weapons and get sailing and cannons to level 20 before I even started the black pearl quest. Still haven't even gotten 1% done with it and I'm almost level 27 =P
It was pretty difficult on my first pirate to het to level 40 after I finished the quest, and I was level 39 for a week and a half after I maxed my weapons because my sailing and cannons were still kind of low. So this time I'm doing the weapons first and then just doing the quest afterwards to make it a little more fun and get some easy notoriety and hopefully be level 40 a little before or after I finish the black pearl ![]() And I was also thinking of making a pirate disigned specificaly for pirate vs pirate. Basically I'm going to do as little questing as possible, and master the doll and cutlass. I'm a big fan of the cutlass, so this is a must for me, and I despise the doll (unless used outside of pvp), because so many players tend to rely on it if they start to lose, so I have to have a counter measure. Hopefully the mastered doll and mastered cutlass will be done around level 20-25, and I will have a very good player for pvp =) Anyone have any feedback? |

That's how I'm working my pirates. See this thread, a lot of people are building their pirates this way:

If the weapon skill point reallocation comes to Open soon, I guess it makes alot-o'sense to do two builds for each pirate: a primary leveling build, which you do en route to level 25, and a mastered route, which you switch to when profitable.
All of my pirates I've decided to make PvP pirates, as I don't see what else there is to do. I've given them all drastically builds though. Last edited by League; 10-04-2008 at 04:34 PM.. |

Aye I have found this method to work well.
I do the quest some as I go along and not leave the whole thing for last, but have definately found advantages in this approach. Those quests are much easier to perform with a strappin level 30 pirate

For a Black Pearl built pirate, I suggest max toughness (therefore, master grenades first.)
Grenades are such a pain, you should think about mastering them first, no matter what type of build you are going for. Once they are out of the way, then you can pick and choose which weapon to focus on, based on preference. |

I actually mastered my grenades first, i was 25 notoriety when it was finished.
I'm working on all of my level 15 weapons quests right now. Its funny to watch some of the higher levels doing double takes when they see a lower level person holding a siege charge ![]() But I am having fun doing my pirate this way. What I'm thinking about trying is doing the boss battle by myself, and if that doesn't work, well, won't be anything special, hahah. |

I started my 2nd pirate by only doing the all the tp quests then nothing else but level up my weapons from that point on. The only problem was this and its just me of course but by the time I started the pearl quest the tasks were so simple and noobish (no offense to the new pirates out there) that I got bored real quick with it. Now my 2nd pirate is at level 33 with no other quests to do other than the privateer. I have run out of quests until next update. My first pirate is at level 38 with only the privateer quest left to do as well. She has only mastered sailing and the doll. But game is getting boring with only leveling to do. I have heard a lot of peeps complaining about this same thing. Nothing to do but level and chat. Thanks for letting me vent! LOL! Kani/Shay

Ive come up with a downside, dont wait too long to quest mateys.
Its real boring trying to get to the BossBattle with all weapons mastered, and level 40. |

Not waiting TOO long is a good idea, but I deff. waited long enough. After i got the staff, and leveled it to the same as all other weapons, is when I started the Pearl quest on pirate two. (Three and Four are still under lev 30) I was at lev 39, and about 2k short of lev 40 when Anne did the BB. A nice way to master I think, defeating Goliath, and hitting lev 40 at the same time was fun.
