Undead ship quest bug

I am doing the undead quest, sinking the different french and spanish ships, and my journal quest says to sink a "French Skeleton Shadow Crow"-- my problem being that this is actually a spanish ship. So, I've sunk several spanish shadow crows and my quest never advances. it never gives me credit. Anyone else run into this?

There are Shadow Crows on both sides, French and Spanish. French inhabit the waters around Canjeros and Spanish around Cutthroat.
