Your Ship, or Mine?
I was solo boarding the new Spanish Undead flagships; and, as has been happening recently, I was stuck killing endless waves of gray and green mobs. I decided to head back to my ship to see if I could break the cycle that way, but the Spanish Undead thought it might be more fun to have me repel their boarding boarding parties for a while:
![]() ![]() Incidentally, I just jumped through a gap in their ship's hull, to swim back to my ship, and just jumped over my war sloop's gunwales to get back on my ship. I had to fight a few more waves, but then I got the swinging rope and was able to sail normally again. |

You don't really have a choice when boarding; you either fight them all, or die.
The point here is that, so far, I've been encountering endless waves of Spanish Undead--that's endless as in until I log out or let them kill me, a new wave of randomly respawned mobs appears to replace each group I kill. The first time I spent about 45 minutes on their ship, expecting that sooner or later they were going to let me swing back to my ship...they didn't. After that initial experience, when I realized I was trapped on their ship, I just logged out. I honestly didn't expect going back to my ship to do much; I didn't think it was going to end the boarding process for me, or I would have tried it sooner. In any case, to escape, I had to kill the ones that boarded my ship, just like I had killed all the waves that respawned while I was over on their ship. I even finally got the rope swinging animation; however, since I was already on my own ship, I just sort of swung around my own ship's main mast and landed at the helm. EDIT: Incidentally, I posted to share the escape I found; although, I did enjoy getting to fight aboard my own ship for a change too. It isn't doing myself any favors, for either rep or coin, to keep killing wave after wave of gray mobs; however, I was getting tired of the losing the cargo I already had because there wasn't a normal end to the mob respawns after boarding Spanish Undead ships (so far, I've not had it happen when boarding French vessels). |

Hold on. They boared your ship???
Is this new, or a glitch? I have noticed that new skeletons just keep respawning, but I have been able to finish them off. I have never been able to leave the enemy ship without killing off all the crew. Sometimes I'd really love to, but... |

It would seem to be a compound glitch actually. So far, it has only happened to me when boarding Spanish Undead flagships.
The first glitch/bug is the continually respawning waves Spanish Undead; as far as I know, if you stay on their ship, then they just keep respawning. They sometimes walk off their ship and out into "thin air" during normal boarding conditions too. In the top screenshot I included, I am clinging to the gunwales of my own war sloop. I am looking back at the Cerberus that I had already boarded; the gap in the port side of the Cerberus (following my avatar's line-of-sight) is where I jumped through to get back to my ship. Several more waves of Spanish Undead did respawn from the Cerberus and they walked out on "thin air" to get to my ship. I could fight them from on my ship, and that did free me after defeating a few extra waves of undead. EDIT: Also, note, that I couldn't interact with my cannons (or the helm) once I'd gotten back to my ship. So, I still had to hope they'd stop respawning. So far, I've just had them keep spawning indefinitely or just act as normally expected; this was the first time I forced a natural end to the boarding process. |
