im wondering if you change servers
ok here is question say you are on a server at a location say kingshead.
and trying to lvl your granades and this player comes and sees you there lvling your skill and stays and parks in same spot out of respect he should move on are go somewhere else and not try to take rep from you because you are already there. if i change servers would he still be there are he would not. |

I hate that. I think if you port from Kings, you should end up on kings. They really need to make that happen as it is very annoying!!!

Wait a minute. I like someone to help me draw them in and we both get points. Just getting there first is a bunch of tomatos or tomatoes lol.
I like to play with other pirates, to see who can throw the best. Last edited by Lady Freckles; 05-27-2008 at 05:33 PM.. Reason: Merge posts |

I used to prefer to work in substandard locations to avoid intrusions from other players. Unfortunately, for me, I don't really have that option anymore. So, yes, I do usually hop servers; however, I won't waste more than 20-30 minutes on hopping and traveling back to an area. At that point, I'm most likely to just give up for the day.
Personally, the most annoying part of the problem is that it generally creates player-to-player stress, and no one ever seems to question why the game's programmers are so unable to find other means than a total lack of level-appropriate resources to slow down Notoriety advancement at the higher levels. Why are my only decent options Tormenta Cave (widely scattered mobs, but at least they're level-appropriate), and a handful of Stump pairings at different locations. To me, it's every bit as bad as them not being able to figure out some sort of compelling story-based reason to extend quests, so they just tack on a bunch of time-wasters like schlepping drinks back and forth across a tavern. OK, so it would be nice if other players always chose to give us the space we desire, but they're getting their time wasted the same way as I am. The real culprit is the game maker, for their CHOICE to not provide adequate resources for the higher level players. Worse yet, it smacks of desperation to retain higher level players, even at the cost of wasting their time on non-compelling, time-wasting gameplay. |

no, you do not lose friends or guilds.
......... What chaps my hide about it is when they come at the mob in such a away that destroys rep possibilities in a rude manner, such as the other night, when a level 40 comes up and with out saying anything starts lobbibng grenades, I gave a little bit of leway and let her then i took a turn(if someone is nice enough to chat and ask, I will be more than happy to take turns) after i took my tuern she runs off to the other side of the mob, so now she's not only stealing half the rep of the ones i do kill with my staff after I drag them to me, but she's also stealing half the mob and defeating my purpose in standing there as I did not feel like running around to try and kill stuff at the time. in the end its the lack of manners within this game that gets me. I have other story's about equally as rude if not more rude behavior but I stop my rant here ......... |

Tip: People have this tendency to select a light server when heading for Kingshead. I had a DOH! moment, and realized that there's only one Kingshead, and if everyone was looking on the light servers, then I might have better luck doing the opposite. My totally unscientific anecdotal evidence is that I tend to find an open Kingshead more often on the ideal servers than the light ones. Quote:

I've been pretty fortunate in mostly avoiding the Kingshead parade ground. I never went anywhere special for grenades, as they've been my first choice weapon since I got them. I did get quite a bit of my first 12 Staff levels against the parade group, but I have so little patience for the the Voodoo Staff (I don't like the Doll either) that it has mostly taken the form of just taking them out once or twice as I run by them (it goes back to me being a grenadier who is used to a highly mobile "run and turn" combat style--I dislike having to stand still while the Staff charges and the blasts just aren't strong enough to use on the run).

And back to a question in the original post, your friends and guild are fine but when you change servers, the crew status gets lost.
I used the parade grounds a bit but found on certain days I had to change servers a few times to find a quiet one. I had much better luck when I was using Cutthroat or the PDF beach for various weapons. Another good one is Becket's quarry with the high level EITC near the stairs to El Sudoron. I got 5 or 6 dagger levels there as well as several cutlass levels. The benefits to using PDF to grind weapons is if you do change servers, the time to go back to where you are working is small. But also the beach has 4 distinct mob areas so you should be able to work there with another person. You won't have the prime area but should still be able to get some work in. I think the biggest problem is that so many players seem to have forgotten the concept of sharing. If you are grinding your cutlass (or anything other than Grenade or Staff), you really only need 1 mob at a time (maybe 2). So why not let someone else use the others that you are not? Is waiting 30 seconds for it to respawn that horrible? We're all trying to do the same thing- a little courtesy and patience would help everyone get what they want. |

).As for Gerds - I never do KH anyway - I'm always at Padres Beach (Gun Store right there + hexed gyps + smoke gerds = hi REP returns quickly without the need of KH). In total, ith Pirate #2 I spent maybe 3 days at KH - and a lot less stressful

Some people don't believe in being polite and asking. Meanwhile, im alot more receptive to those that ask versus those that just jump in and take over. I've been told by numerous pirates when I mentioned it, that "asking" was just stupid, and that I should get over it. Zeppers lvl40 http://pirates.teamofx.us |

I suppose my reaction to Tormenta and Kingshead relates to my own idiosyncratic style of play.
I admit it's me that refuses to do rotational sharing. Whether I was in the area first, or arrive to find someone else there, it is going to be me that leaves without a word. If I'm standing around in the game, then I should be standing in the backyard working on grooving my golf swing. To me, Kingshead is a wonderland of groupings of 3 officers; sometimes I forget that way down below there might be people fighting over 6 Veterans. Help is a tricky business for me too. On one hand, especially since I seldom encounter that many people in the places end up, I'm usually happy to stop whatever I was doing to help someone out (these are always people that talk, but not necessarily that use some form of "help me" exactly). However, I also understand the flip side, as I prefer not to be helped myself. In fact, one of the reasons I pursue MMOGs instead of offline games is that persistent online worlds are generally more apathetic toward my character; I prefer that my character not be the focal point of all the game's content. |
