Wink Successful Guild?

Is it just me, or is it really difficult to make a successful guild?
I mean, I have been trying FOREVER to make Lads And Wenches a popular guild, but it seems everyone wants pirate masters and high levels in a guild.
Anyone else having this problem?

It has been a bit rough for Gadflies. Just remember: The good ones will stick. Quality over quantity has always been a more enjoyable guild experience for me.

I agree with Lucrecia, a good guild must focus on the quality. You can have a guild with 300 members but they could not get along with you. I know of some small guilds (Tortugan Terror), their small, but from what I heard, their a great group and isn't too bad when it comes to high lvls.

My guild has about 200 members and we get along great, I pay little to no attention to the amount of members when I account for how our guild is on ranks or how successful it is.

Decent guild quantity to me is an illusion, it doesn't matter how many members are in, what matters is how everyone gets along. I know it's been hard for me and PIC but that's just part of being a GM. Quality over quantity, and make sure everyone is satisfyed. I had lots of people leave, but to me, that only shows who's loyal and who's not.

Cool. Lads And Wenches was at one time a rather popular guild, and everyone chatted everyday. I tried to keep it like this, but it seemed everyone quit or stopped playing.
Now-a-days, it seems harder to get people to join your guild.
Thanks!

I am not a guild master, but I was a member of a few guilds before I became a long time member of the my current guild. For me, it wasn't the amount of members in the guild, but the quality of the members. The few people we had became fast friends and we had very few people leave. None of us were high level when the guild started. I think the guild master was a level 14 when I joined. He is now ready to level to 38 and he is a good guy.

Make the best of what you have, and before you know it, what you have will be the best.

Wink

We seem to have a hardcore group in English Pirates. 5 or 6 of us chat regularly(most days), and there are a number of lower levels that we help out a lot (Hi Dylan, James, Robin and gang )

We have around 150 members, but rarely see most of them which is a shame. (one of the reasons I would like to see Disney open up the XD channel is so I can see if these people still exist)

I think a successful guild shows in how often your members play, chat and help each other out. We are having big problems trying to get 3 members past the boss battle since they toughened it up. Last night we got to the last bridge and almost had the goliath. I was very honoured to have them telling me (as I was on the wheel) what a great job I had done, even though we got sunk, as we had never got past the second bridge before. Things like a simple "thanks" and a "well done", Make me feel like I am doing a reasonably good job as guildmaster, and proud of my members.

I just wish there was some way of letting my members know of sites like this, and the Guild Forum I have set up for us to try and communicate a little more freely out of the game.

In case they are looking at this englishpirates.myfreeforum.org

One thing you have to remember....a successful guild isnt built over night. I am the guild master of The Elite Circle. For me being a GM is not like I own the guild, I just was the designated pirate to create the name. All the members have a say on what goes on in the guild. We started with a group of 15 members and have grown to over 100+. We are all friends and if there is ever any drama in the guild, it is resolved quickly. Being a great guild is not about the numbers of pirates in it or the levels of the pirates, its about the family that develops from it.

Like a tree, water it and it grows. Neglect it and it will shrivel and die.

Yar, it be difficult. I think people at most should have one guild with one of their pirates, and join another (another two/three?) with their other pirate (other two/three?).

Speakin of which, anybody be wanting to join the Charming Thieves? Eh, worth a try.

As a GM I have come to realise a few things. Please keep in mind this is my first MMO and I have absloutely zilcho epierence (sp) with guilds.

1. Don't set out to be the biggest, baddest, or best guild. Trying to do so will lead to headaches.

2. Don't recruit just anybody or everybody. We all have different viewes, ages ect... You cant get along with everyone.

3. Don't get power hungry....History has shown what happens to those who do.

4. ALWAYS remember it is just a game. Don't take stuff personally.

The Wenches started just 4 months ago with only 3 people. It has only been in the last two weeks that we have added a group of new members at one time. We will see how it goes. IMO I feel if you add new members slowly you will have a chance to see who will fit in and who will not. Out of the 30 or so members we have only ONE has left. She simply fit in with the other one better but is always with us when they are not on. And, one ejection...why she was IDK it was a vote from the officers. I simply do as we vote.

I hope this helps new GM's......but like I said I am a new GM myself....

Bella
