Quest "bug"

I started a new character, and after I got the cutlas from Will Turner, it says I need to kill a skeleton and then visit Tia Dalma. Now after I kill the skeleton, I try to go through the tunnel to go to Tia Dalma, but it stops me and says I have still yet to kill one. I've tried reseting my game and everything but it still doesn't work.
Theres also another thing, when I try to make a new character, it doesn't have a "next" button so I can't continue to make my character.

this is really odd have you tried un-installing and re-installing it? not just deleting it but actually compleating wiping it from your computer to re-download it. also does your computer meet the requirements?
