Part-time Guild/Consortium
![]() This is more of a part-time guild, or more accurately, a consortium. Levels are not important; however, this guild takes the position that an ethic of fair play is essential to the long-term good of the game. Members would be agreeing not to advance their characters unfairly, through exploiting bugs. This is not a mutual aid society; however, it is hoped that members will find some benefits of cooperative play. The right candidate for this guild should feel comfortable being entirely self-sufficient; since this is really a part-time guild, we will only game together because we choose to, not because we feel we must. That doesn't mean we won't plan events, only that you'll never be required to attend guild functions. If nobody shows up, then that's probably a good sign that an event should be dropped anyway. The primary focus of the guild will be to develop tactics and routines for use in ship-to-ship PvP should it come out. In the meantime, we will try to develop a system of judging/scoring to be used for informal PvP ship battles. For those who aren't so nautical, the guild focus will be on non-conventional training strategies that focus on helping players to spread themselves evenly throughout the game environment. What is a Kelpie, you ask? Well, it's a Celtic water-spirit in the family of Each Uisce (Water-horses); in particular, the kelpies are associated with fresh, running water. However, kelpies are shape-shifters; in water, they often appear to have a horse's fore-body and hooves, with a serpentine tail. On land, kelpies often appear as swift horses, or as humans; although, they can't disguise their hair from looking like seaweed. The marine Each Uisce, or Aughisky (anglacized), were more known for dragging people down into the briny depths.... Our flag at sea: ![]() The ocean waves will roll The stormy winds will blow We poor sailors get to skip around the top While the landlubbers lie down below, below, below.... --lyrics from "The Mermaid" (trad.) I will be holding a meeting, for the purposes of establishing how much interest there might be in developing such a player-driven PvP system, based on a sense of honor and fair play. I assume I will be lucky to find a few officers at first; but, if we can cobble together something that is fun enough, then we might see some more interest. The meeting will be this Friday night, at the pit room on Kingshead (so, yes, this is for unlimited only for now). For those that may not know the pit room, it is opposite the stonework ramp up to the lowest fort, and the door is guarded by a mixed group of EITC and Navy. Once inside there’s nothing but a nice meeting space. I don’t play reliably during the week, but I do play sporadically. Hopefully, with some success in having fun with it, and a few weeks recruiting, we can field a little tournament. Ultimately, each captain will remain their own master (we can look at bringing your occasional crew members in also). Hopefully, we'll be able to work out solo captains and crew vs. crew (that'll be hard on the judges to score). 3rd Meeting of the Black Coral Kelpies The Pit Room on Kingshead (Galaacare Ocean) Will repost next date here....
