Sink the Most Navy Challenge Winners
Congratulations to the winners of our Sink the Most Navy Ships weekend event!
![]() Scores of seafaring scoundrels made certain the Navy saw red this past weekend, with much of the Royal fleet now reportin' for duty at Davy Jones' Locker. We've seen a thing or two at sea we have, and tell ye true, these are some truly impressive tallies, mates! Judging by these three-day totals, Norrington's Spyglass has been well-earned to be sure:
All winners, check your e-mail this weekend for your spyglass prizes and instructions on how to redeem your Legendary loot in-game. The top 15 Pirates with the most Navy ships sunk also win 2-weeks of complimentary Unlimited Access! If your winning Pirate is Basic, your 2-weeks Unlimited Access time begins around noon (PST) this Sunday, April 28, 2013. If your winning Pirate currently enjoys Unlimited Access, the complimentary 2 weeks are added onto the end of your existing Membership. Keep in mind, this bumps your regular billing date by two weeks. NOTE: The Unlimited Access is applied to the Pirate's account who took part in the event. Please see your e-mail for details. Our hearty thanks to ALL Pirates who courageously cleared our waterways of those bothersome Royal Navy! |

There are a few players in that list that I know off who use 3rd Party cheat engines, yes they were reported to Disney but it seems Disney turned a blinder to it

I wasn't on the list and I know of some others that also were not on the list that should have been. Most of Saturday and Sunday I was on board with Captain Gunrose. I wasn't on cannon but was using a hammer to repair the whole time. My 3 day total including maybe 10% random ships was 6457. Disney apparently didn't go by their own rules or wasn't doing a real good job at actually tracking us.
From their very own Grog Blog, April 17, 2013 12:37PM ADMIN GM Roberta Roberts ADMIN Everyone on board a Pirate ship gets credit when they sink an enemy ship. A strong crew and savvy Captain both help, but to rack up your own individual tally of ships sunk and stay ahead of the total count for this challenge, it pays to vary your crews each time you put out to sea. It's a good idea to not set yer ship to "Public" during this challenge, to avoid any lollygaggers on deck. Pick a crew or Guildmates you can rely on to do their part. And if anyone takes a nap on board, you can always make port and clear the decks! |

If I may, I am, in fact, pleasantly surprised that I got up there with my brother. I was convinced that in spite of our best efforts, like most others who gave it their all to sink as many Navy ships as they could, we were simply outmatched by those who belonged to the top guilds. We were truly the underdogs. And by we, I mean, all those like us. Most would not be able to sail for 72 hours straight with those who are good at this, but as soon as we could, we'd log in and sink every one of them as best we could. We already knew how fierce the competition was going to be because the prize was a legendary item. If it were gold, not so many would have bothered to compete.
I held in there as did others despite how well the best have done as recorded on the Leaderboard. I simply wanted my younger brother to get the UA and/or prize. He did not. I'm glad he got a fame during the competition and that he has won the legendary item in the end. He is satisfied with it. He even got more ships than I did! lol I understand the sentiment of those who felt like they were cheated. I felt that myself after the competition ended and wrote to POTCO. I was convinced that they didn't take great care in tallying who actually sank those ships. I sent my feedback on Wednesday night after I tallied up everyone, both player and guild alike, who made the Top 100 of each day of the competition. According to what was recorded on the Leaderboards, I ranked 70th with 4,872 ships. The Top 50th player had sunk 6,441 ships. Anyone who had done the same in tracking can confirm this. I suppose I can show it, but I will instead show you a copy of what POTCO's reply was to my feedback: Spoiler for Official Reply From Members Services:
Note how I was told 'no need to worry'. When I read it, I had a hunch I won. That somehow I got in the Top 50. Even if I did, I wanted to make sure my brother got the item for this was my request as you have read. I was also willing to give mine up for all pirates, the underdogs really, to get the Norrington if they sank at least 500 Navy ships. So, as soon as I saw the list posted [no email was received beforehand] and my pirate's name was among those who had won, I quickly sent them my OMG reply [it really was an OMG moment]. Bottom line: I meant what I said, 'I'd give mine up for everyone who competed and sank 500 Navy ships'. And as you can see at the Grog Blog, my comment was in light of this: POTCO did take great care in rewarding those who actually sank Navy ships. All lollygaggers on deck, whether by accident or intentional, would not get the credit. You had to do your part in actually sinking them. We did that. I was AFK at times during those 51-52 hours and I did not like it. I knew I had to sink those ships and we hit anything Navy. And we sure did have quite a blast. With regard to your comment, Bart, about cheaters, I honestly didn't see any. I didn't even see a full crew in action. I guess they were at Abassa. Most were solo. Might see one gunner, and even more rare, two gunners in all those servers we sailed therein. At the time of this writing, I have not received their reply regarding my request. I have not redeemed my prize either. They may or may not honor my request. I will, of course, honor their decision.

So then apparently those on ship repair are worthless lollygaggers.

When I saw others sailing their ships, it appears they were doing the same thing: gun, gun, gun until you have to port. I'm sure Captain Gunrose, like any good captain, appreciates what you did for him and he is incensed that you didn't get the credit. |

I believe that if you were [AFK] during the entire time, you should have no credit, as opposed to if you were repairing the entire time, you SHOULD get credit. I went around sinking those Navy ships on the first day and not even an hour in saw a War Sloop with what seemed to be no recharge rate on its broadsides.
I tried MY best to get on the list. I even worked the previous couple of days to get my War Sloop from Reinforced I to Skull & Bones V just to get the speed back and amplify my broadside power with a few extra Fury. Even had help along the way. But alas, it seems it did not work out. But that's alright. But that's not important. My main concern is, while I do believe Disney did perhaps properly reward those who should have been rewarded, I do not at all believe them when they said anyone caught cheating would be disqualified. I do not see how they would have caught anyone when the person could just be alone on his/her ship with all teleports closed to prevent friends/crew/etc. from getting on board and reporting him/her. |

If this means anything I really didn't care if I got it or not as I probably would never have used the trinket anyways. All I want is for D to not change their rules they gave to us. They said anyone on board gets credit and they also didn't say repairing ship was not allowed.

I finally got their reply and I was told to keep it since I worked hard to get it. They plan on holding more contests in the future. Might find myself in the Top 50 too. lol
Have you both wrote to them regarding this matter? |
