I just want to take a quick moment to wish a hearty "Best of luck!" to all the partners who over the next few weeks will be taking their exams in school. Many of the partners, including myself, have been studying and working tirelessly to pass their exams with flying colors over the past few days/weeks/months, which has unfortunately drawn many of us away from the game; though I'm glad to say that will all be over soon enough!

Just remember when taking your tests to take heed of a few pieces of advice:

1. Manage your time! Remember to not spend all of your time on a single problem or area of your test; you most likely on your exams will be following a strict budget of time, so if you get stuck on a part of your test, or you feel you are spending too much time on one part, skip it and come back to it if you have more time left over.
2. Bubble your scantrons as you go along! Too many times I have seen people do the entire test in their answer booklet, and then run out of time without being able to complete their scantron; all that work for nothing!
3. When in doubt, guess! For those of you taking AP Exams, remember that this year there is no penalty for guessing. If you don't get a question at first, circle it and move on without filling it in; if you start to run out of time, however, fire away with those C's and B's!
4. Do not fall in to the pit of "I don't know anything!" If you start to feel overwhelmed during a test, as if you don't know any of the answers, do NOT freak out; once you lose control of yourself all hope is lost. When you start to feel yourself shutting down, take a minute to calm yourself, collect your breath, and gather your thoughts; it will make your time on the test much easier than if you sit there tongue-in-cheek.
5. Stay confident! You've been waiting an entire year to blast the hell out of this test; if your teacher has prepared you right, you will be ready for this test even if you're panicking or sweating uncontrollably. Keep yourself on your toes during the whole test, and do not let it's difficulty discourage you.

And of course, the most important of them all....

• IT'S JUST A TEST! One test will not decide your future, whether it's an SAT, an AP Exam, a Regents, or even just a final. For most tests you will usually have the option of cancelling your scores, or even retaking the test, and even if you don't, remember that this test is only a very, very small fraction of your educational record. Contrary to popular belief, getting that one bad grade on a test will not stop your chances of getting in to even an Ivy League school (though honestly, I can name plenty of better choices than Harvard or Yale ) Don't let it get the best of you; only a few hours of your life will be spent on this test, and after that, that entire course can kiss your butt!
