You can buy tonics from Gypsies on almost every island. If you sail to Tortuga and follow the path to the right of the jail, a you should find one. Just press shift to talk to them and choose buy.
As for boarding ships, you need to find a flagships, a ship that has a flag above its name. Attack it, and get it down to 0 health points. Then, green circles should appear on one side of the ship. Get up close and get to a cannon and press 8 on your keyboard. Aim the hooks at the circles until you get the prompt to board. And as for getting a flagship, sorry, you can't. The ship will sink as you re-board your own ship.

You dont have to board any ships to get the quest materials... you get credit for the quest items by sinking the ships.
There is a gypsy on Port Royal down the hill from Elizabeth Swans' mansion, by the back archway in the square in Tortuga and two in Padres Del Fuegos |

When you do go and buy tonics, you need to click on the tonic tab on the left side of the menu. It took me a while to figure out the tabs lol, I kept looking a only the menu thinking I don't see tonics on here.

You cannot sell those items because the game automatically sells them for you for gold.

When doing things that might be hard for your level, it's best to go to a busy ocean. Like searching the barrels, if it's a busy ocean, most likely there will be others in the fort fighting the guards
Also, you can team up with others.

If you want to look for a guild, there's many good one's located in the Guilds and Crews section of the site. If I might recommend a few, I would try Bad to the Bonez or The Tortugan Terrors. They're both pretty good groups in my opinion. ^^
(Sorry Silver, yours just seems so inactive. Course I ain't met your guild yet. :P)

my suggestion for new people is to try to do everything you can on your own as much as possible. Instead of hitching a ride to Cuba.. sail there yourself.
I see too many of the new ppl just trying to get thru their quests in the easiest way possible. Sure.. if you need help at Fort Charles or Thieves Den... by all means.. ask for help. But you will get no practice sailing and such if help is given too much. I dont mind teleporting ppl sometimes or giving rides.. but I look back when I was at that point and thought.. I did all this on my own. When I got stuck with stuff I called out to my guild for help with where something was or to help w/ grenade quest at Kingshead. With the Black Pearl being disabled still... I say take your time and enjoy the game! Rushing to finish is only going to put you were so many like me are now.. in a holding pattern. Sure.. leveling up weapons and sailing is fun... but the lack of quests to do is kinda frustrating. Ive mastered my doll and near mastering my sailing and Im kinda dreading mastering much more cuz then there will really be nothing left to do! The gold doesnt matter that much... Enjoy your quests and good luck! There can never be too many questions! Joining a busy guild is a good idea too.. if you ever need help they are only a whisper away! |

Just as you enter the Fort, stand and observe the positions and marching patterns of the various Navy men. A lot of them are fairly stationary, so you really just need to be careful of the ones who move a lot. For example, immediately to the left of the entrance, there are crates/barrels to search. You will typically find a sole stationary Cadet near them. However, there is a Veteran who marches from the rear of the fort to that corner, so you will want to wait until he is not around. Then you should be able to kill that sole Cadet and search. The most difficult barrels are those at the far side, immediately opposite the fort entrance. Veterans and Sergeants regularly patrol in front of them. (The ones out on the veranda near the EITC officers can also be tough to get to.) Still, it is possible to find an opening to search without having to fight them. (I've done it now on 3 different pirates.) Here's another little trick that can help: Get the items from the easier crates/barrels, then change servers. You'll be able to plunder those same containers all over again. |
