Disc Drive help

Ok I have an HP Pavillion dv6000 I woke up today tried putting in a cd the disc drive didn't open I checked my computer and the internal disc drive didn't show up I restarted my computer no change I check for driver updates there are none Hp hasn't done anything about the problem and I can't talk to live chat because my warrenty expired anyone have any ideas or will I have to shell out 30 bucks for an external drive

If you really would like, unscrew the bottom cover of the computer, as the warranty has expired. Do this to see if any wires are loose. What happens, however, is that HP computers are built to self-destruct eventually. Parts will die because they want you to replace them. You can probably get an external drive on the internet if you really look around for cheaper than 30 dollars.

Hmm, a laptop? If so try pushing the drive in or pulling at it :P most the time they aren't screwed in anymore but " latch into place " by pushing on it. hope that helps

Stop using as a cupholder for one...
Just kidding, but if it is one of those spring operated disc drives and doesn't rely on a motor, I would take it out and try to get it back in. Otherwise, remove it and replace the spare parts. If it is really fried, though, an external from some wholesale parts store on the Internet may be cheaper.
