Pirates Online - Urgent Update

As you may have notice, there have been sporadic server outages and errors for the last few days. These errors have now been fixed. We were able to trace the problem to misconfigured hardware from the maintenance performed Monday, 6 AM (PST) on February 7, 2011.

Due to the fact that the data had been faulty since the above time and date, it was necessary to revert Pirates and all their progress and belongings back to this state. We are very sorry to report that any progress made as of Monday, February 7, 2011 6AM (PST) has been lost.

We sincerely apologize for this major inconvenience. We spent much time investigating all forms of solutions but in the end, this roll back had to happen in order for us to continue sailing onwards. Please understand, it is our full intention to provide you with a great experience day in and day out. Unfortunately, what transpired effected that experience but we have learned from this and the problem has been corrected.

It is now safe to set off on your next adventure without worry of this happening again!

Pirates Online will be compensating all paid players with a full 7 day extension on their accounts.

The Valentine Holiday and Peddlers will be extended an additional 4 days and will now end on February 20, 2011.

We hope this helps answer some questions. If you have any other items you'd like answered, please submit a comment below. Our ADMIN GM CAYMEN TRENCH will be active in posting responses for any frequently asked questions.

To further clarify, this problem is in no way due to: hackers, ocean reductions, Infamy updates, a sign that we're at world's end or anything else other than bad data on bad hardware. Your information and accounts remain unaffected and safe.

Sincerely,
The Crew @ Pirates Online

If you submitted a Pirate name for approval in the past 7 days and have seen your Pirate name revert back to its default 'Swashbuckler' or 'Pirate', please contact us via Live Chat. We'd be happy to help you with this change.

Very responsible of them to post that. That should hopefully answer a lot of questions people have, and it is very good of them to add the 7 day extension for paying players. I'm glad they did this. Very good of them.

Wouldn't a good way to make up for it be a Triple Xp event so people can make up those lost levels?

I agree Davy, it almost surprised me that they posted this. They obviously meant it though, and it was a good way to apologize.

An extra week of Membership? I'm all for that. I think this was a very well done move by Disney. As angry as everyone was about it, there really wasn't much we could do (And I'll even admit to being one of those ranters...) I have to applaud them on this.

I would trade a weeks worth of membership to get my only rare cursed blade back... Oh well, glad they fixed it and gave us something at least.

I lost two levels (from 28 to 30) including some grinding quests that were almost complete. And my cannon ram from our cd game that went to wave 65. I appreciate the real world compensation, but really, the cannon ram, clothes and some other items are relatively rare loot drops, and the real world compensation does little to wash the bad taste away. Other than making an unreasonable request of legendary weapons for everyone I can not think of an equitable solution. I simply want my pirate restored. And I guess that's too much to ask.

lol, I feel sorry for my guildmate, who found legendary thunderpsine and Famed Dark Mutineer, just to have it deleted
anyway, nothing for basics? lol -_-

I got very lucky with this whole deal because though I have been playing a lot the last few weeks I didn't actually do much so all I lost was a few rep points... no big deal and I didn't lose the famed cursed I found like last week.

I am somewhat happy I didn't loot last week and didn't lose any major weapons (would have been very angry if I had gotten a famed or legendary and lost that).

I worked on my uber pirate all last week though and lost:
-Last two levels of sword
-20 levels in fishing
-18 levels in potions
-6 notoriety levels
-Teleport access to all islands but raven's

The potions bit is the one that angers me the most, but oh well. Guess the one week addition to my sub is enough compensation. I concur that it was very responsible and very relieving for them to post this.

I'm not real sure why everyone is so quick to commend them for refunding the lost time; do you tell a restaurant manager what a great job he's doing for refunding your money after a particularly awful experience? No, you commend him when after comp'ing your meal he then gives you an amazing bottle of wine, a certificate for a future meal, and perhaps two slices of strawberry torte.

I reactivated my pirates account on Monday and discovered fishing, then leveled up ten levels. I also got a pirate level or two, and worked on sailing. I did some incredibly boring quests. Sure, I didn't lose as much as a previous poster, but I do know I don't feel the same desire to play that same content over again as I did.

I do not feel it would be at all out of line to offer a double or triple XP event for a week; it seems like wasting nearly a whole week of everyone's time warrants something a little more than "my bad and here's 7 days of credit."

Guys, its not there fault! they cant do anything. Put it this way: you have an awfull meal, and the waiter would give you wine, deseart,a coupon, but they dont have any. put it that way.
