Feats of Strength 2011 Details - January 18, 2011
The Feats of Strength Competition is coming up this weekend! Thanks to all the strong and brave Pirates that signed up for the event - which runs over two weekends, January 21-23 and January 28-30.
As competition day gets nearer, we'll post the the competitors on Wednesday, January 19 in alphabetical order. Find your Pirate's name and make sure you report on time to the correct Ocean and at the correct time on Devil's Anvil. Competition Details: Challenge #1 - Starting Line: Competitiors will meet on Devil's Anvil at their designated start time (All times posted are PST/Los Angeles) and at their designated Oceans on their correct day. (For example: Pirate John Doe (Lvl 30), Guild Name, Jan. 22, 2:20 PM, Kokoros)Marceline Guild GM icon Officially listed competitors ONLY should check in with the Marceline Guild GM that is located there to start your race. You can identify them by the icon above their heads: The GM will then whisper a location AND pass phrase to only the competitors. Be prepared to memorize or write both down - Pirates don't wait long for each other! The GM will put you on your mark, get set and when the GM says "GO!" the race is on! Challenge #2 - The Race: Do all you can to race to the location that the GM told you. (Swift Foot, Sailing, Teleporting are all fair game! Pirates must do what they can to win.) When you get to the correct location, type your pass phrase in the chat window. Pretty much YELL IT OUT! The GMs have enlisted help from the other side and an invisible Ghost GM will be at the second location and will hear your cries! If you are at the right spot and have spoken the correct pass phrase, the Ghost GM will whisper to you a riddle. Pay close attention! This riddle contains clues to the final leg of the race: the Finish Line! Challenge #3 - The Finish Line: Get to the end! Decipher the riddle given to you and make your way to the location using the riddle as your clue. Once you are standing on the exact spot from the clue, yell out your pass phrase again and use the emote /flex in front of the Marceline GM at the Finish Line. Flexing is your finishing move. The GM will acknowledge the First, Second and Third place winners of the race and whisper the winners a gold code. IMPORTANT: Gold codes can be redeemed by copying and pasting or typing the code into the 'Redeem Code' area in the Inventory tab. For more information, click here. GMs will be monitoring all areas of the course. Some GMs may be visible while others may not be, but they will be watching all competitiors closely and especially for cheating. Any cheating or disrupting other racers will disqualify you. All Pirates are welcome to watch and cheer on friends and Guild mates, any alternates to replace no-shows will be selected form the crowd. Please keep your weapons stowed during the event. Pirates that harass competitors or GMs or interfere with the course will be removed from the game. |

This is interesting.... going from an island race to the whole of the Caribe. And a riddle to add as well.
Glad I'm racing in this year's one. Won last year, but with those new potions and all, it's going to be a tad tougher. I like how far the competition has gone. Who knows? Maybe next year they'll give us a whole olympiad! |

Wow!
All I can really say is "wow!"... ![]() Big D's contest is basically the same as the very first Pocket Pirate Sloop Race I invented for BBK back in 2008...nothing like taking someone's idea...any 'BBK Officer' or those from other guilds that were there would remember as well...plus all the race info was saved on one of our websites... Should go after 'em for plagiarism... ![]() ![]()
