What Type of Guild is Ideal for You?
There are literally thousands of guilds in the Caribbean, each being unique in their own way. Whether their size, attitude, focus, or atmosphere, there is something about every guild that makes it unique. There's more than likely a guild out there that is perfect for one pirate.
So, I ask you: What type of guild do you prefer? |

I like a good-sized guild -but not too big- that has friendly people who are on a lot and are willing to have guild parties and meetings.
But that is kind of too much to ask for....

My guild is perfect I formed it on certain ideals i spent lots of times in guilds as a noob to a lvl 40 but really truthfully on a handful were good but not great. in my opinion a great guild would be an activish guild 200 or some members about half or so come on from time to time, a fun guild friendly with an honest guild master and thats all i can say. my guild so far is doing good to that not with the members and all but its ideals and i hope i can keep its ideals that way.

I like a big, active guild that does guild invasions and stuff. A cross between a really strict military guild/and a family guild.

I prefer a good guild that is like a family, where everyone helps each other out. A place where I enjoy my time spent on the game and people that make me laugh my guts out. Best thing of all in a guild, theres the people in there that have made a influence on you.

Me? I like a guild that is of a descent size, not too big, not too small. I want it to be social, but not "loud" enough that it gets distracting or annoying. I've been in guilds where they are obsessed with winning competitions or being on the leaderboards. I don't like guilds like that. I like guilds where I can just sit back, do as I please, talk to my friends, and have people to back me up when I need it. I have been in a big guild. They are good, but not my type.
As for organization, I like an organized guild with rules, but not ones that are really, really strict. If I am in a guild where I cannot do as I please (within reason of course...), then it is not the guild for me. Thats must my thought. |

I like guilds that have around 250-275 people. With the GM always on (not literally always on, but like a couple hours a day) Also, with like 50 or so people that do come on, even if it just from time to time. A good guild for me also has to talk a lot, and be social. I mean, it might be a lot to ask for, but before I went into becoming a GM, I would look for a guild like that. There are alot of guilds like that...

Size:
I prefer guilds that are in the middle. I like guilds with a variety of members, but not too big, or small for that matter. As long as the majority of people know each other, I shouldn't have a problem. Activity: Active guilds, definately. The guild shouldn't be at a dead halt, but it shouldn't be guilding everyone under the sun, active players or not, for the sake of activity. Rules: The guild has to be well-organized with an established set of rules that benefit the guild as a whole, not rules that satisfy the GM's personal preferences. They can't be outrageous either. I prefer rules that are not too strict, but not too lenient. Rules centered on common sense suits me just fine. Focus: I'm not a big fan of being in a guild that focuses on one aspect of the game, such as SvS, PvP, or ranking - guilds that appeal only to people who are into that stuff. Being in guilds like these, I find, loses its spark after a while. Ages: I wouldn't like to be in a guild with ALL kids, or almost all adults for that matter (granted they let kids in, but the majority are adults). It's just a matter of diversity for me. Some guilds only allow kids, and some only allow adults. There's nothing wrong with that. But I'd rather be in a guild where all are welcome. The variety just adds onto the guild to me. Leadership: The guild leaders have to be dedicated, mature, and fair. The guild leaders have to be relatively active; a couple hours each day is fine. I have no problems with kids being in a leadership position; I'd have a problem with myself if I did. But, they have to be mature. They have to maintain a certain level of professionalism and be willing to accept the fact that every action they take as a GM sets an example to the members that will undoubtedly be mirrored. But they also have to be fun, open, and friendly to everyone, inside and outside of the guild. The leaders can't be so clouded by their position that they forget that their actions reflect upon the guild just as much as any other member. I prefer a guild in which the leaders do not put themselves above the members in any way. A guild's motive means a lot; it relates to leadership so much that I'm not even going to separate it... I'd hate to be in a guild in which the GM is only seeking fame and recognition for having a high ranking guild, a guild with 500 members, etc. Above all else, the GM HAS to realize this goal and never take his or her eyes off of it: Serve the guild, not yourself. A guild created for personal gain and image is not a guild at all. I don't want to be in a guild that serves the GM or those in power. No matter what guild I join, if the leaders were to see this quote by Davy Fireskull, they would HAVE to agree with it. Quote:

I can sum it up in three words, just for me: Partners. N. Crime.
This guild is perfect for me - I've made tons of friends that I would've never had the opportunity to make, and the size, activities, etc. is right for me. I also love the Party Officer

I can't really answer without being prejudiced to my own company of pirates. I can say that my previous membership in other guilds is what guides me to make the ETC the best that I can.
The Uncle's Mafia was a very family-oriented group though they tried to remain mostly adult - to minimize drama. The younger players we did have understood that though we were mostly a social fun group, that some order was expected. We were not out to rank or be the best PvP or SvS guild, etc. It was the supportive atmosphere that made me want to be there and want to play - even after I had been mastered long ago. |

To me, a perfect guild has to be active, with at least 10 or more people. Size doesn't really matter to me. My guild, Bandidos Are Back, was derived from my old guild, El Bandidos. It had 300 people. I took a big look at that guild, and I saw that I was leading incorrectly. All the people in my guild, or the majority, were only basics that came on once or twice. I took my active people and created Bandidos Are Back, which is very active. We loot, fish, and do Practice SvS. My guild is also a military guild. We never attack other guilds, unless we are attacked. So, overall, size now does not matter to me. As long as the people in your guild are happy, your guild is healthy.

I have been in many guilds since I first started here about 4 years ago. The guild I am in now is the perfect guild for me. The Pixie Pyrates are not the biggest, but have had the best attitude. As our GM would say, they go for quality not quantity in the way of members. I have only come back to pirates about a month ago and met the leading ladies for a Padres invasion on night and it has been great ever since. And if any of you Pixies see this, Thanks for having me!
