Biggest Guild Numbers Truth or Fiction

Why do some of the largest guilds boast about how many members they have
when in reality a lot of members are gone or have been inactive for a few years. Many
have moved on without removing themselves from the guilds.

They don't boast...The TRUE top guilds ...dont.

Why would inactive players who gave their heart and soul to a guild remove themselves???

I suspect the very nature of a pirate is to brag, boast and be grandiose about everything related to their guild. We plunder, we steal, we fight, we sink ships, and we can prove ourselves with the actual number of active guild members, not just the ones on a break who may return at any time.

Our guild motto is "Quality over quantity". Rather have a few good men/women than a bunch of scurvy dogs savvy?

Well, while quantity is good, and something to be proud of, you still want to have good quality members. Obviously, when you start a new guild, you want members, so some guilds recruit any guildless person they find. But you still need good quality members. I know a certain guild that may have the top spot, but the members don't talk, and they aren't very stable. So while they may have almost max, one of the main points of a guild is to talk and have fun with your guild, which means you need good quality members.

I actually make sure no members in my guild are inactive by having "Guild Sweeps" every once in a while. Kicking basics, low levels, inactives that I haven't seen in a long time out. But if yer gonna do this NOTE: make sure they're really inactive, ask other guild mates if they know this person. It really helps the "big quality guild" feeling. Just look at emerald regiment! Haha
