The ' check hand ' emote is what you get after finishing the Raven's Cove quest. It says... 'You don't look like you have The Evil Curse of Doom...' Hope this helps! If ye go to Abassa, you will see plenty of people. To you, it does not look like ye have a black spot on yer hand. But to others, it is there.

Igor say was different on test. Igor say they changed it when it came live. Igor forget what it was. Igor was much more excited about it when igor first got it on test.

It could lead to the black spot, however if you remember, you get the curse from touching a cursed blade, not the Kraken. It could lead up to it, but there is no way to tell.
