Dont ask to be an officer! Please!
Well, many people who like to hang out and recruit people for their guild, such as meself, have encountered this before. You guild someone, and they seem really nice. Then they ask to be an officer, or veteran now that the new rank is out. Most smart guildmasters will say something like: Sorry mate, you have to prove yourself to me by doing _____________. Then I will make you an officer. Then the person gets mad and leaves the guild. One time, someone I just guilded said to me: make me second in command. ?????? Second in command and you've been in the guild for 2 minutes. Yea, that'll happen.
This always really annoys me, so let me just say this: the purpose of guilds is NOT to be an officer! The purpose of guilds is to have fun, make friends, have people to back you up when you need it. Also, if I made everyone an officer, then what would the point of being an officer be? The rank would lose its meaning, and there would be nothing to being one, making the position worthless. Seriously, I make players veterans after they have been in the guild two weeks. Just wait 2 weeks and your a veteran, boom. Not many guildmasters that I know will make you a veteran that easy.
Basically, it really annoys me when people as me this as soon as they join, even though I have a dont ask for promotions rule. One time, my guildmates told me somebody asked in guild chat: Can I be an officer? I wasnt even online. They told him he had to prove himself, and then he apparently left the guild when he heard that. Who cares if your an officer in a guild? Its more work for you anyway. Join a guild to have fun, not just to be an officer.
