Can't select shaders and performance strange:
Hello,
nice and short: I have a Macbook Pro with a Nvidia 9600m GT. Snow Leo 10.6.4 is fresh installed and up to date. a) I can't select any shaders via the graphics menu ingame. How to do that? It just tells me something about shader hardware not recognized or something. b) Is it normal for this graphics engine to run like at 20fps? I would guess something with these graphics to run at full 60fps with everything on. Thanks! Waterfall

Some shaders may not be supported with the current drivers shipped with OS X. In relation to FPS, 10.6.4 included an update to Nvidia drivers that have caused some problems with OpenGL rendering. Nvidia has released some updated drivers on their site, you may wish to see if one is available for your card.

Hello,
I know about the 10.6.4 issue - It's a real shame. Performance on Macs is bad enough, now it's even worse. I've been having major problems with Steam Source games and such, but the low fps is also on my PC. I guess the engine is this way? Anyway, is there a way to activate those shaders? Nvidia doesn't offer any drivers for my MBP 15". I assume it's only for iMacs or Mac Pro computers. Waterfall |

Do you dual boot or is the PC a separate machine? On a Mac with an ATI card my frame-rate is fine, whether I'm booted into OS X or Windows 7.
I am unable to turn on the shaders when playing from OS X, but can on Windows 7, so either there is a limitation imposed by the drivers, or a fault on Disney's end. I would send in a bug report. Nvidia was offering drivers for certain cards to fix some issues with the 6.4 update, independent of the computer itself, however I did not see one for your card. |

Hello,
sorry for the very, very late respond. We are moving in to a new apartment so things have been a bit stressy lately. Anyway, yeah, I dual boot on the same machine. I try not to, though. It kind of bothers me a lot. A friend of mine tried it on her PC notebook (almost the same hardware inside) and she could adjust the shaders (shader level 4) and even the resolution without problems. Performance is much better on Windows. She has 60fps on maximum settings. I guess the game runs like this on OSX then. I am used to a performance hit on games with OSX but this is kind of strange. The thing is I am used to 60fps - especially on games with lower graphics. The major problem is when many ppl gather on the same spot. A few days ago there was this island battle and everyone got there and started fighting. I was playing on OSX with low-medium settings (which is kind of crappy with this hardware) and my fps dropped to 5fps during that battle. With other words: unplayable. The fix Nvidia offers is for the MAC PRO series, I guess. So, where can I fill out that bug report? |

Install any new drivers... Download the highest DirectX version you can. I run on DirectX10 and I can use Shaders easily.

There is no such thing as directx on a MAC. I am not on a PC guys ;D Thanks anyway. I just saw a video of how awesome the water looks, when the shaders are used. Would be really nice to fix this somehow.

I had to unstall the same program because it make the game SLOW and plus it was messing with my screen resoulution.

I apologize for my even later response. You may report the issue at http://piratesonline.go.com/v3/#/help/feedback.html
Still not sure on the FPS issue, I know Apple recently released some graphics updates for Snow Leopard, I am not sure if that will help in your case. |

switch around your settings from DirectX9, or X8 or Open GL. Mine was set on X9 and I switched to Open GL for it, one question, are there black flames going on on your screen?

OS X does not support the DX API.
