Glitched Invasions
So you finish your invasion, defeating Jolly Roger and start server-hopping. You arrive at a server where there are two enemies spawning on each beach
On Tortuga, the "East Wall Barricade" or the "West Wall Barricade" must fall within 1 hour and 15 minutes of the invasion start, or Jolly Roger will magically appear and claim victory, without ever materializing nor attacking. Port Royal is "Kings Run Barricade" or "Farmer's Row Barricade." Padres del Fuego is when any of the 3 "inner" barricades fall. "South Wall Barricade" or "Outcast's Den Barricade" or that other one. Whichever type of invasion; when the inside barricade falls, Jolly Roger appears on the beach. Defeating him then, you can still get a moderate invasion bonus. ----- When an invasion is glitched, the only thing to do, is switch servers. Sticking around guarantees you get less rep per minute, than if you go somewhere and grind weapons. Those of you who choose to stay, can let those 2 enemies attack the barricades on one side. However, with each passing minute, more n00bs arrive and immediately attack them. This sets you back 2 to 4 minutes until those enemies are able to get to the barricade and start attacking it again. The n00bs doing this type of attacking, do get a tiny amount of rep for each kill. So with dramatic flair, they invariably will continue to attack the low level enemies for +2 rep each, somehow thinking they are doing you a favor. Worst of all, after an hour and 15 minutes, they will see that they got 400 rep (plus zero bonus) and think to themselves "wow!" Note: when I grind weapons, I often get an average of 1,000 rep every 10 minutes. None of them realize how hideously bad that actually is, in terms of rep. One tactic some people try, is to whisper to n00bs to attack only one side, while superimposing their pirates on the enemies (so that the red dots do not appear on-compass.) But with each passing minute, more n00bs arrive. ----- Are glitched invasions fun? Invariably, they are confrontational, unpleasant and dissatisfying for everyone involved. ----- Has anyone determined what glitch CAUSES the invasions to go awry? Has anyone found a better way to defeat a "trigger barricade" to activate Jolly Roger, during a glitched invasion? Does anyone know why Disney won't fix this? Do they consider it "fixed" because they have the 75 minute time-limit? |

Oh yes, the ' noobs' are the hardest part. I think that that is the hardest part for this type of invasion. Handling them which I figure out is to yes switch them to either A. Make them somehow to go to another server or B. Have them switch sides so we have undead attacking another barricade.
As for what causes it I'm not sure. It might be Disney's fault. It might be a speeder on the server causing it to crash the server. Sometimes they just don't bother fixes all the bugs. From what I think, it is when you defeat the enemies with little people and you're supposed to be fast. It bugs and causes it to crash and repeat. From what I've learned from trying to do this. I think that it's the easiest to do this when you get a Powder Keg Runner wave. More than half the time the ' noob ' is actually near the Powder Keg and is knocked out so I usually just let them sit there. Now to actually get the barricade destroyed without anybody disturbing is hard. I try to make conversation with the actual person in order for them to halt. And why they don't fix this? They're either A. Working on new content, or B. They're too lazy to fix invasions but they have enough times to count millions of e-mails for the "Savvy Swashbucklers" event. Honestly why work on something NONCRUCIAL to the game while you can work on much needed content because of the gradually building people who are starting to leave this game. |

Quote:
The first sightings of these Glitched Invasions started with the first sightings of the Powder Keg Runners on that one day with the Tortuga Invasions. There were tons of them, and after that day, the PKRs never appeared again until they were officially released. I somehow think all these bugs have SOMETHING to do with the PKRs and their spawning data... |

I vaguely recall the very earliest invasions on test being glitched; I don't remember the specifics now, but I don't think anyone recognized it as glitched (in this manner,) as it was so new.

My first glitched invasion was back in the Port Royal days. One tiny little skele got stuck behind a rock and wouldn't move, which kept the invasion from progressing. It was really pathetic to see that poor red dot, stuck in a cliff.

I believe that's a different invasion glitch. I do remember seeing that also, but there were no other enemies when that happened. The problem these days, is where it gets stuck with 2 enemies on each beach...

This happened to me in Romana. We get through many brigades, until all of the sudden, only too enemies on each beach. We told everyone to let them through and these n00bs come in and takes them down. We told them to stop and they did, and we got the East route to open, we got Jolly Roger and won Tortuga. Here is my theory of this bug: When a brigade doesn't trigger the one after it, it has only a few enemies spawning. The only way to end this without losing the island it to let them through to clear a path.

Sometimes When I'm in invasions we just finish the 5th brigade, and all of a sudden! Jolly Roger comes! I think part of it is when were losing the GMs are just giving us a chance.

Well, I'm interested in figuring out what causes that behavior. There seems to me, a condition (like someone running into a shop, the final enemy of that level not disengaging properly, or disengaging and thwarting the entire invasion) that this type of glitched invasion has consistently.
