Little Problem Here - Pirates of the Caribbean Online Fansite & Forums

For those of you who don't already know I wanted to let you guys know my laptop's hard drive is failing. It's been making funky clicks on startup for a while, but only when it's cold. Today it went on considerably longer so I think the drive is almost dead. I do have plans to fix it, but I don't know if the drive will die before that happens or not. So, if I drop out of game for a few days without any warning, that's why. I will be keeping in touch via the forums, but I can't guarantee anything past that. I'm hoping the drive will last till after the 2 year party, but no promises. I'll keep you guys updated on what's going on. See ya in game while I can!

Oh No!!! Sorry to hear, Hawke. I know what I went through being w/o my puter for a week. At least you have a plan to get you back up if need be. Good Luck -ya know rl always seems to get in the way of pirating in one way or another....

Thanks for the heads-up. I don't suppose you do backups of critical files so when the drive crashes you don't lose all the important stuff....

Actually Bart since it started making the funky noises with frequency I backed up my entire computer and I've been backing up all new stuff every night, zipping it onto a flash drive. I went through loosing it all once before, I'm not about to risk it again.

Good to hear, Hawke! Don't know what a flash drive is, but I know that you know what you are doing. Took me 2 years to finally get my stuff backed up-but it's on CD's. I hope that is as good as a flash drive-

Update and some excellent news! After 18 months of the runaround with HP I filed against them with the BBB. I also checked my receipt, an sure enough I AM still under warranty. With Circuit City.

YAY. I talked to a guy for a good long time today, an the long an short is this. Circuit City is going to replace my hard drive, fix my CD player, replace my internal battery, and if my lappy is beyond repair, replace it. All at no charge to me. And in 10 days guaranteed! YAY!!! So, Sunday the 13th, in the afternoon, Iris is going away. I'll be out of game 10 days but will be in touch via the forum here. When I come back I will have either a whole new lappy or one that runs like new! Woo hoo!!!

Well, Iris was very nice. She made it as long as I had hoped. But tomorrow morning she goes in for repairs. FINALLY. But that means I won't be in game for about 10 days. Gonna miss you guys while I'm out.

Sigh, I'm gonna be doing highly unpiratey things. Cleaning. ( :P ) Reading. More cleaning. Already counting the days till I see you guys again! I'll be in game tonight, just one last short term see ya soon. For those of you I don't see till after, gonna miss you guys!

Can we all say AAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I get the thing into Radio Shack only to be told there is a shipping charge I was not aware of. So, after everything I did to get it ready, after purging all that is me out of this thing, and uninstalling everything, I can't send it for another month! (shipping charge is more than I have spare atm.) So, ARG, thar be pirates in the corporate world!

However, bonus side, I'm NOT leaving you for 10 days. Yet....
