Something Lurks in the Shadows - Feb 2, '10
Something Lurks in the Shadows
http://piratesonline.go.com/#/news_b...in_the_shadows February 02, 2010 ![]() Pirates from all corners of the Caribbean have seen a strange thing lurking in the shadows. But when they get closer for a better look, it disappears. The word on the streets and in the taverns is that this thing is a new servant of that dark-hearted villain, Jolly Roger! ![]() Whatever this is, we don't think it has anything to do with the weather! Pirates may be a brave and daring bunch - but they are also mighty superstitious. Anytime something new appears, most consider it... an omen. Like those folks who look to a GROUNDHOG to predict a few more weeks of winter weather, our omen is the sighting of this strange new creature. And it got us to thinking, "How will it change things?" Truth is, we don't know. This much we do know - if Jolly's controlling this creature - it's bad. So keep your eyes peeled and stay out of the shadows! They look like the Ceg Runners that came to Tortuga Invasions but were ejected out of game because of all the Glitches. My Question is can you in real game see these shadows and when you get close they leave?

Keg Runners were seen in the Tuga invasions. Haven't seen one yet on PDF. But the only time this pirate has seen them disappear is when they are targeted & blow up taking any pirates within their range with them. Maybe, Disney has added a new twist to their existence or un-existence since they are undead....

Good point Lizzy!
We did see them briefly in Tortuga and there were very dangerous at close range. They were sappers designed to take down the barricades in one fell explosion. Because of that you cannot just ignore them. The explosion is powerful enough to take down a lvl 50 in one shot. So, the question now is, where will they show up? PDF has much tighter fighting areas and they would cause untold havoc there. Will they be added to the Catacombs or other similar areas? Captain Whale |

I figured it out guys. First of all, Jolly attacked in an order that barely anyone noticed. First of all, the redo of islands, Port Royal, then Tortuga, then Padres... coincedence. After the islands, the caves were redone, I assume Jolly may attack there next with his new "pets"... if so, where would they spawn from, and why is he there. Just a thought, but seriously, I really think it has to do with remodeling of stuff.

Looks like my friend found his way back home
![]() Most likely, the Powder Keg Runners will just show up in the PDF Invasions. It seems unlikely for them to be added to caves, although if they were, it could be used to expand on the storyline (somehow. After all, its Disney, they can figure it out.) Either way, the Keg Runners seem like nothing more, for the time being at least, than a new challenge to put us to the test during invasions. Quote:

Scuttlebutt is Jolly is searching for a cache of weapons on Padres. It is said they are hidden there somewhere. Maybe thats why these Powder Keg Runners will appear. Jolly is getting stronger so is summoming these 'super' skellies. Will they appear on Padres? I'm sure we will find out soon enough.

P.S. I don't think i'll be looking for anything, because it's been getting melodramatic with all these events being in our faces just so they can avoid talking about why they don't have new content.
I played POTCO when I could when it started, now I'm afraid if I play it I'll get bored and just quit because of the lack of content. I don't want holiday events, I want the Kraken and the second story quest ASAP. The game gets real old real fast without the content rolling in. Last edited by MacIronhawk; 02-03-2010 at 03:30 PM.. |

Ok, here is my theory:
First, I think they made a mistake putting the Powder Keg Runners in the Tortuga invasion. They were never seen on test, which threw me for a loop, and the first invasion they showed up at completely broke POTCO that day. I do think they were intended for the PDF invasions, but now Disney seems to have come up with a story of them being seen to cover their blunder. Second, from the lore on the pirates site, it does say that Jolly is looking for somthing on PDF and that is why he is invading there. We know he wants control of the caribbean, so burning the Governor's Mansion on Port Royal is a start. We know he has a score to settle with Jack, so torching the Faithful Bride makes sense. In the lore they mentioned that he is possibly looking for the weapons that the Conquistadors left on PDF, and Powder Keg Runners would help to destroy the town walls and blow holes into the island to find these weapons. Third, we know we are to get a new weapon of some sort. We've been told that Will Turner is currently working on this weapon. I think that after Jolly finds what he is looking for then this new weapon will become available. Finally, I also believe there is a link in the order of the invasion and the order of the explosions on the islands. Its been said that Jolly and Beckett are working together. Both of them obviously want control of the Caribbean, but will they have a falling out? We know that Captain Rott and the Casa de Muerta guild work for Jolly. Their quests having us kill the navy and dig up the voodoo relics are after all what led up to the invasions. I believe that all of this is leading up to the next story chapter. Keep in mind we are in Feb. and next month will be St. Patricks day. Last year the water turned green and it was said that was a sign of a giant sea creature coming. I think the kraken will be here soon. |

okay let me state what i understand. It goes in the order of explosions, as most of you have said. and as del said, he would not attack the caves....
so i agree with will too. Remodelling and all. The next update definitely has new weapons in it, and just maybe we'll see forest redesigns with the Kegs in them..... |

There is something fishy about this. Methinks those are kegs of beer, and the skelly's are running because the don't want to share!!!! No wonder the Brethren Court doesn't want us to take them on........ they want all the suds for themselves!!!!!!!
