Speed glitch witnessed.
Well, I have read stuff about speed glitches, fixed, not fixed, back to live,,, all abstract to me until the other night, while mastering me pirate,,, just a few hundred reps away from mastering I saw this blue dot on me compass, passed very rapidly, I thought it was compass lagging,,, didn't really call a lot of attention until this level 49 guy came in, pistol on hand and nailed my three high levels enemies in mere seconds then walked away,,, I thought that I was lagging again,,,,
,,, a pattern developed, this guys was circling Cursed Caverns killing enemies while in nearly constant motion, without delaying for respawning and rather moving on onto the next cluster of enemies, then he tarted to come into the area off the main path where I was, I realized that I was not lagging at all, rather he was going at a very high speed, I chased after him once but,,, pffft! ...he left me well behind at neckbreaking speed, confirmed by my compass and opening the map... ... came in once more, I got closer and his pistol sounded more like the short bursts of automatic rifle (pop-pop-pop-click-pop-pop-pop-click-pop-pop-pop)(read it very fast), killed high lv 40's to 50 like they were the lv 2 gate guards of the fort in Port Royal,,, in no time... Anyhow, I will carefully say that it all makes sense to me,,, there are shortcuts to leveling that will make it tons easier to do so and while I do not claim that every multi mastered pirate, you know, many level 50s for the same pirate has taken a short cut, read it again if you think that I'm impartially calling anyone cheater,,, I AM NOT!,,, it is logical to me that some must have had. Just remember that the Notoriety increase happened on 9/1/09, call me slow but it took me 3 months ad a few days to level a fully mastered 40 playing what a consider frequently plus the invasions did help a bit... not bashing here!, I'm serious about this, just making an observation on a witnessed event. Have you ever seen this speed glitch thing at work? |

Yes, I have... and if someone is using it in PvP or SvS - I WILL report them.
Have to admit that I'm not overly concerned if a pirate is just leveling. After all, if they hit 50 sooner - so what? All they are doing is ruining the game for themselves by shortening it. They will quickly run out of stuff to do, get bored sooner, and maybe they will leave. And if EVERYONE KNOWS you're glitching, how can you brag about being better at SvS or PvP when you obviously ARE NOT. |

I watched a light sloop go from launch at PDF to land in Port Royal in less than 4 seconds the other day. He was doing Warp 7!
Yeah, There's a lot of speed glitching going on lately.

Been there, seen that, tried that (unsuccessfully). I agree with Eliza, if it isn't being used to disrupt gameplay or gain an unfair advantage over other players, then I don't care. As for "cheating" to get to 50, as I have said too many times, it is unfair to assume most or even "many" players who mastered quickly "cheated." CS&Co, I appreciate that you are not directly calling anyone a cheater but you yourself stated that this is the first time you have come in contact with the glitch, so I think these unfounded claims that some "must have" cheated are not fair. Neither you nor I know how many (if any) people "cheated" to master quickly, so I think it is an insult to many pirate masters (who got to 50 quickly and legitimately) when claims such as that are made. This is a delicate subject for me because I too suspect speeding may have been used by some of the early masters, but I know for a fact it was not used by others. To be fair to everyone I think it is best to give everyone the benefit of the doubt and not make any assumptions. Anywayyy, sorry about going off on that tangent, about the speed glitch - I'm ok with it if it is not disrupting my game experience. It's kinda funny actually. I like to picture speeders as little roadrunners "beep beep"ing around.

Jason Davy.
Point taken, mate. But don't take it so personal, I included myself in the equation (that sounded familiar ) as a new lv 50 and could have cheated myself too... but I didn't.As being an "unfounded claim", well, that's up to you, mate. Your own post reflects my point of view and contradicts yours "This is a delicate subject for me because I too suspect speeding may have been used by some of the early masters, but I know for a fact it was not used by others" Precisely me point!!! YOU said it!, only that you added 'early masters to it" Now, was it that bad !? Nope! It's easy math!!!! A simple observation. Now I know how much work it takes to master just one pirate,,, when I hear that you have 3 fully mastered pirates and working on your 4th, perhaps you do play 24/7, it is possible! you may share pirate with siblings or friends and it is constantly leveling, I do not know.... BUT I do know now that there is a way to level up,,, if I wasn't afraid to get caught I may even try it meself!!! It's got to be fun!!!! Now, for PvP, that's a complete foul !!! For tedious monotonous post quest leveling, it must be a blast,,, I hope to know how one day and try it,,, and please, no one get offended,,, it's easy math and a simple witnessed observation... |

It is not the same point and I did not contradict myself. You assert that some players must have cheated. I do not, have not, and will not make that claim. While I may have my doubts I do not make assertions (that, yes, are absolutely unfounded, speculation and guesswork are not a basis to make a claim, especially one as serious as an accusation of cheating) that anyone has cheated to reach level 50. I respect your opinion but if you think I am agreeing with your point at all then you are seriously misunderstanding what I am saying.

Bottom line is, if you are using a 3rd party program, you are breaking the rules you agreed to when you signed up. Report speeders. Get em banned. Good riddence.

Experiences with the jerkwads being..... jerkwads:
Port Royal, 2:37:42 ( Random time, but why not add the dramatic effect of time? ) In front of the Fort Charles gate, a Lv42 or so pirate starts showing off. Time after time, it was the same spam of the Hack sword skill ( not to mention the time after time usage of the speed hack itself ). This was while I was on my other pirate, Spectra The Specter. Padres Del Fuego Side Beach, 8:42:01 I was with a friend, attacking Gen. Darkhart. As we go to fight another of his clones, we find someone just zoom right through, but he respectfully, and surprisingly, didn't attack Gen. Darkhart Clone #22031. I believe there were a ton of other experiences with speed hackers, but I don't remember any of those. Lately, there HAVE been more sightings of Speed Hackers ( as mentioned before ), so please guys, if you ARE a Speed Hacker, try to stop like you would if you were trying to stop smoking ( odd reference, but it kind of makes sense ). This little glitch/Hack is very unfair to most of us high level Pirate Masters who made it to Lv50 in a legal way. I'm sure there are more sightings of S. Hackers because of the slight glitch allowing you to go beyond Lv50. Just my guess, but it would make sense because people would be like "i gotta get 2 lv60 b4 disney fixs this awsome bug!" I'll bet you anything that this could be the motive of at least a quarter of the Speed Hackers. |

if they are sitting there showing off thier hacking, then they deserve to be reported. they are taking a huge risk in the first place by employing a third party program, but to sit there and flaunt it is in my opinion a cry to be reported and consequently have the account face the gallows. The boys fate is regrettable, but then again, so was his desicion to engage in...piracy? wait...

Reported a speed hacker once. I needed some gold and I was sailing around Padres in the triangle of Padres, Outcast and the edge of the map. Gunning for the big ships and Royals.
EVERY time I started to engage a Warlord or whatever, this ship would roll in and finish the job with what amounted to Machine Gun Cannons. Then the hacker ship would warp out to another area, clean it out and return to my hunting grounds, machine gunning up to 6 ships in the time it would take me to get one. The only thing I could do was try to get my ship between them and what ever I was shooting so they would get the point that I deserved a chance too. And I may have said something about being "scurvy dogs." I was going to let it go but they followed me to Padres and started to surround me and ask "What's your problem..." and stuff like that. Told them straight up that they were cheaters and if they wanted to cheat, they should do it on empty servers. They told me I was jealous because I didn't know where to get speed hacks like they could. I reported them, took a screenshot or two and then changed servers... I just think that using hacks in a game like this is sort of pointless. It really is designed for kids. If you have "teen" or above in your age? Then cheating to accomplish tasks is really just kind of sad... |

I see speed hacks in SvS all the time- A lite sloop runs up and is doing circle around ya with a steady stream of cannon fire going ( I've been on ships where we sunk them and how bad do you have to be to cheat and still lose- LOL ) I report them every time and have seen the same name attached to the hack a 2nd but not a 3rd time. Big D may give you a break may not -but players don't forget and I don't want cheater hooked to my name

They need to fix the issue with Light Sloops anyway. The broadsides USED to be able to hit them... now even unglitched you're lucky to nick one.
