What should I do?
I'm the GM of The Night Sparrow. We're a small guild and very close-nit... most of us have been playing together for some time, which is why we started the guild in the first place.
The thing is, several of the officers in Dark Warlordz want me to join their guild and merge mine with theirs. I know the Lordz are a heck of a good guild and I really would like to join, but none of my officers want to merge. If I leave my guild, there won't be a GM since I can't pass the title off to someone else. I'd also feel kind of bad about abandoning the guild I created with my friends. But I know being asked by the high ranking officers of the Warlordz to join them is an incredible honor and I'd be quite dim to turn such an offer down. I guess I'm just looking for some outside input. Any advice? |

Maybe create a second or third pirate and split you time between guilds might work. That way you don't leave your guild and join theirs. As far as merging if your Officers don't want to merge and you all vote on it you must respect the wishes of the your members.

I would go with Skirata.
You don't always have to be on one pirate all the time. You could do one day each or how ever you want! |

As the others have said, make another pirate that way you don't have to leave your guild. As for it being an honor, in my opinion.. being in charge of the guild is a bigger honor.

I actually have a few different pirates and they're officers in my guild. The main one I play, however, is the one that's GM as well as the one the Lordz want.
I've been mulling it over and there's no way I'm going to leave everyone in the dust and just disappear; that would be a huge lack of respect for my friends and members. I did have an idea, though. Call a guild meeting and disband the guild so my head officer can start her own. I could join that one with my other pirates while my main pirate joins the Lordz. Honestly, I think my head officer would be a better guildmaster anyway lol. She's more headstrong than I am and has no problem telling people off when they step out of line. I'm more passive and only lead when totally necessary, like during the invasions. Do you think that might be a good idea? |

Why would they want want a specific pirate? I would be interested in the player rather than the one character. It doesn't add up. Either they want you in any other pirate you make or not. I still say just move one of your pirates to that guild. If they refuse then something else is going on.

I agree with Skirata that's sounds more like they are looking at your level rather than you. I am assuming of course that your GM pirate is a high level one. I would do what Skirata is suggesting and offer them one of your officer pirates.
I am not familiar with that guild so I can't say much about them. Guilds should be looking for good people/players not what level you are. Also as GM your first duty is to your own mates in my mind. Edit: Guilds shouldn't be about numbers or how many high lvls you have in it. It should be about friendship and fun, respect and helping each other. Anything after that is gravy! mmmmm gravy... Good luck Lisa Captain Whales |

I have a different set of questions:
Why would you even consider this other guild over your own? What do theey offer you that you aren't getting fromn your own guild? If you figure that out, you can adjust your guild to give you what you want. If it's "prestige" you're looking for, I for one don't know anything about the Dark Warlordz, so you may not actually end up with the prestige you may think you're getting. Please reconsider what you are possibly about to do. You could harm some friendships for no gain.

I agree with all of the above!! I joined a very well known Guild & although the members were awesome to me it was not a good fit at all. I am very happy with my present Guild & am Loyal to my Guild Family to the end. If the new guild won't accept one of your other pirates they are not worth it!

I agree with ya Bartholomew.
She had decieded to take one of her other pirates over and apparently they would only take her GM pirate. Sounds above like she made the right decision to stay with her friends. My guess is the Dark Warlordz just wanted to boost thier numbers by the merger and figured they had a better shot at it by accepting only her GM pirate. Dunno, but that is what it sounds like. Thomas Seawalker said it best - Good friends trump fame anyday. If it were me Lisa I would just tell the Dark warlordz to walk the plank and go work with your officers to make your guild better as Bart said. Have a few meetings and hash everything out. Plan some fun events fer your pirates and do some leveling work in crews. Get everyone talking and having fun and you will be suprised and how your guild responds. Edit: Well said Bug77!! again Good Luck Captain Whale |

In my very humble opinion, The honor comes in paying with friends who care and have fun and who share a common goal. Real Friends.
It may be very cool to be asked to join a big guild but it is not an honor. Honor comes from the things that YOU do and the way that you behave when faced with choices. By staying, I think that you have honored your friends. That's just my opinion but your decision impressed me. |
