Think my Guild is dead...
The Guild I've been in since I joined the game is totally dead. Usually, I'm the only player on when I do play.
So, I'm in a tough spot. Should I stick with it, hoping that some people will return and bring it back to life or should I start shopping for a new Guild? In all honesty, I've got two Pirates, I don't play that much because of college classes, but with the updates coming, I'd be around on Tuesdays, Thursdays and weekends. So, advise and if there is anyone who wants to take my Pirates on, love to know. Last edited by Maximvs; 08-27-2009 at 04:36 PM.. Reason: Mentioning Names |

Sounds to me like (unlesss you're the GM) you need a new guild. Take a look at the Guilds and Clans section and see which ones catch your fancy. PM the GM and I'm sure you will be well on your way to being a member of a happy and healthy guild.
Good luck, mate!

Some advice:
If you really liked your old guildmates, tough it out. With the new updates and increased caps, a lot of those who were on hold are starting to return to the game. I would guess that at least a few of your guildmates will come back once they know there is something new to do. If you really weren't that close with them, or they don't come back, check out a few of the guilds listed in the guilds and clans area. Not just the ones with their own sub-forums, but those in the general area, too. Find one that seems to be active and meets your needs. Most of them have guidelines posted that explain what they are all about. Either way, Good-Luck!

I was in a similar position awhile back. My old guild was slowly becoming inactive but I'd been with it so long it was hard to leave. At the time I wanted to take my main pirate, Maria, out of the guild and put her in another one. So I made a second pirate, Juliana and left her in my old guild. This way I could check in on it every so often to see if anyone was on. Not soon after another friend asked if I wanted to put Juliana in her guild, Black Bart's Krewe. My old guild was done and I had to finally accept it. So I left my old guild and brought Juliana (must have been around lvl 7 at the time) over. I have to say, it was the best decision I ever could have made. Near 5 months later I am still with BBK, I've brought Maria over, Juliana is now my main pirate and I'm about to finally master her!
So I guess my point is this; if you really feel the guild could be revived.. try making another pirate to put in and hold your spot. But if you don't think there's a real chance of it coming back, you may want to start looking for a new guild. A guild is about having fun, making friends, enjoying the game, and so much more. If your not getting that from your current guild than it really isn't a guild anymore. If you do decide to start looking for a new guild, check out forums. I'm sure you'll find one to your liking. Best of luck to ya mate! |

Checking out other guilds & trying 1 of your pirates in that Guild for now really is a smart move. I think a great Guild that you love & fit in well with makes or breaks the game! I tried a few Guilds before I found The One for me. My first Guild was made up of close friends so it was hard to leave them although I still feel as if I am an honerary member there. My second guild was not for me either although I liked everyone IN the guild so again hard to leave. I started in DW with 1 pirate & now have 6 girls in the Guild & Love every single person in my Guild. It makes the game a whole different place for me now. So look around, talk to GMs & others in the Guilds you look at & try a guild with 1 pirate while checking on your old guild with your other! Good Luck to finding the right Guild for you!!

Are any of your guildmates in your friends list?
So, if you decide to make the move to a new group - you can still get in touch with them about either reforming or coming with you to a new group. Also, as has been suggested - if it all possible have another pirate guilded as a stay behind to either keep in contact or help others transition. My first guild was one I was in the longest, exactly one year. But, the GM had stopped playing and the core officers still there were fragmenting. It happens, Warrior. |

I have seen alot of pirates that hadn't played in quite awhile, returning to the game with curioustiy if not expectations of the new updates. But, the advice already given by others on this thread is solid information. Doesn't hurt to put a pirate in another guild that you might feel is right for you & still keep your foothold in your present guild.
Good Luck, mate...whatever you decide |

Well , I was in a similar predicament such as you ,
I was a member of a great guild , everyone was friendly and masters at PvP. But as lack of new content started to take hold of most of the guild members and the Gm they started playing less, then the Gm broke his arm, and just stopped playing entirely. So I thought about what I should do, knowing only a few guilds, but none that I wanted to join, I brought up the option to make my own and here 2 months later I'm Gm of the Barbary Korsairs and have 160 members, and I'm enjoying it very much. In the event that you do make your own guild, there is a POF thread that has advice on running guilds. Being Gm of a guild is it self from my opinion a plus but can also be a pain at times, of course that depends how the situation goes for you, like if you get a ton of low lvl players lvl9-19 asking for help then it can become a pain if you do not have any main officers to help out. Seeing as you have 2 pirates currently in what remains of your guild, I would suggest taking just one out, the one who you feel most comfortable using. At the moment it doesn't sound like you have an option of having another pirate made to fill a place. It might be a good idea to leave the guild with just one pirate. Take that one pirate, and do some serious research on new guilds.
As others have said there are many wonderful guilds listed here on POF. Check out the recruitment threads of the guilds here. Find a few you like, who's rules you can live with. PM the GMs, explain the situation, and see if you can meet some guild members in game. I know from doing this myself that the GMs here are great about getting back to prospective guildmembers, and are very nice people. From what I've seen they welcome a chance to meet new prospects in game. This is a great way to do a small trial run. When you find a guild you feel you might have a good fit with, try joining with that one pirate. You can then check on your old guild with the second pirate. You may find, when checking, that your old guild slowly comes back to life. If you were happy there you can then go back to your old guild if you choose. If you like your new guild as well there is no reason at all to not stay in both guilds. Many people are members of more than one guild and balance it well. If your guild does not return, or if you are neither an officer or the GM and neither ever return you might just have a big problem right there. A guild with no officers or GM is unfortunately a dead guild. It's sad to see old guilds die. However, there are guilds out there who fully understand that. Many of the large guilds have been known to absorb all members of a dead guild, or even to have been formed by the members of a guild who no longer had a GM or Officers. The problem is unfortunately very common. I wish you the best of luck, either in your guild coming back, or in finding a new one. |

<HIJACK>WHAT? There's guilds here that have formed from the ashes of other guilds whose GMs have gone AWOL? Really? Which ones? *cough cough The Elite Circle cough cough*</HIJACK> TheHawke brings up a good point: are you an officer of your "dead" guild?

I will start cruising around the boards looking, but basically, I'm hanging a shingle in case anyone wants a Pirate in their Guild, as long as they're willing to bail me out in a crisis, I'm game. I'd just do what I could to return the favor. Oh and sorry about mentioning names. Didn't know that was a taboo. |

Sounds to me like you need to move at least one pirate into another guild. With no officers, nobody new can come in. With no GM, no officers can be appointed.
