Pirate Guild 1337 was just a guild I made to hopefully change the name to something cooler. However, once I made the guild and saw "1337" over my head, I knew the name had to stay. Since creation a few days ago, we have 12 or 13 strong and we're having a blast.

That said, I'll tell you a bit about the guild. It was built basically on random picking and choosing of gunners for a simple plundering session. However, I grew attached immediately to some of the gunners and invited them. I'm sure we all knew at the time that we had something good going!

I'm friends with everyone in the guild. By friends I mean I speak to everyone, everyone speaks to me, and nobody is there just to fill up a spot on the roster. Everyone is friends with each other, too. I constantly see small groups of scallywags working together on their quests. This is the type of atmosphere that a guild is about. I see people complaining about the guild system, with arguments such as:

"You can't even tell if they're online unless you added them to your friends list."
- Why wouldn't you add them to your friend's list? They aren't there just to help you out with quests. If you join the guild and ask people for help right off the bat, what does that say about your reason for joining? Once the guild gets together as a group, you have your opportunity to meet and add everyone.

"You can't even have a 'guild headquarters'. There's no unity!"
- Says who? My War Frigate is my guild's headquarters. We constantly plunder together and I've made it a point to get everyone in the guild onto my friends list, so that if people do need to meet up, they can do so, and add eachother, and go on their way. Use your imagination, things don't always need to be so concrete.

That was the original message I posted a year and a half ago to try to get some friendly faces into my guild. I've been on a break since about the end of 2007, but I am back in full swing. The guild still exists, and I will never let the 1337th guild to grace POTC die.

"1337" is gamer speak for leet, or elite. That's not me at all, but the coincidence is quite humorous to me and so the guild name stays. I'm proud to be the founder of one of the first guilds on POTC, especially since guilds number nearly five hundred thousand now. I'll never leave it, and it will never be destroyed.

That being said, why not let more people in on the fun? If you're like me and get five to ten guild invites daily, wouldn't you prefer having something funny over your head? That's not to say I won't treat this as a guild, just as I stated in my original post 18 months ago. I'm currently leveling a new pirate, who is at Notoriety 12 currently. Companions are always nice.

I'm not going to post a long winded paragraph about what I have to offer. All I have to offer is friendship. Whatever you believe is included in that, will be.

Very Cool about the 1337 match

Be careful with open codes though, with the issue of Guild Distruptors / Deleters using open codes to get into guilds - I would change that to "PM me for a code" so you can interview / check out each who want to sign up - up to you of course
