I think the War Galleon is a good choice.
Holds more.. and if you can master sailing (ie the handling) on a War Galleon. You'll find the other ships more fun to play around with for a change, than vica versa. If your used to the others first, the galleon class is harder to master.. may be why so many prefer the frigate class. |

I got a surprise. Obviously it depends on what type of sailing you do and what you are after. With a big crew and chasing gold, more cargo with a war galleon. PVP I would say the War frigate.
The surprise, to level = Galleon. Entire time testing One of the things I constantly sent in was to fix war galleon broadsides. Mainly solo sailing there are certain things you do to try to gain more rep. I worked both cannon and sailing at the same time, sails then broadsides. I pretty much watch most the guild race around to get a war galleon, or war frigate, as I kept passing by them with my galleon. Finally told them, galleon gives more rep/ less shots (time), sinks the same ship faster. Tested this several times, though perhaps close on rep, will sink faster with a galleon. The reason for this is half the war galleon broadsides now misses your target. It will no doubt hit from the side a lot better, but when looking for rep you don't want to try to sink ships from the sides, you want to do more hits, not so much single shot sinking's. Result = shoot sails all but front on skellie. Switch to broadsides, I used first open fire and put a lot of the hits in front sail not doing damage but counting up hits. 3 broadsides to sink ship, 4 times, same thing and many times 5 times, to sink with a war galleon and half the broadsides missing. Galleon 99 rep, war galleon 97 rep specific example I remember, while taking more time and broadsides with a war galleon. As for tricky situations, I have sunk war frigate's eitc, with single open fire shots to the side with a galleon. So go show them how to solo sailing to 25, good luck. |

well there both equal frigates broadsides do more damage but war galleon has more broad side frigates has more hull but war galleons hull is stronger only difference is cannon placement and cargo i prefer frigate galleons alot slower and easier to hit

IMHO the smaller ships take significantly more skill to sail than the War Frigate and the War Galleon. I personally prefer my War Sloop most of the time because it takes some thinking to sail. It is ridiculously easy to fill the cargo hold of any war class ship for experienced sailors even against the highest level ships sailing solo. Why take all of the fun out of sailing by simply crushing everything in the sea? Staying out long enough to finish some of the longer quests (lvl 4 cutlass nightmare flashback) in a war sloop was challenging.

I prefer my War Galleon. The broadsides are amazing and the cargo bay holds a lot of stuff!! I love it.

I would have to sail war fraigte. Its faster tehn a galleon and more firepower but it cant hold as much but it could sial faster back to port and get back out tehre so its a trade off i would say war fraigte

Yea, but I am maxed out on Full sail and ramming speed so I can get away fast if I need to trust me. Not that that ever happens tho....lol |

Depends of what you're doing as to your choice of tactics. If I'm out boarding large flagships such as Collossus I prefer the War galleon for its larger cargo space. If I'm out sailing for general plunder or helping crewmates level cannons I prefer the War Frigate. Of my two high level pirates each of them owns two War Frigates and one War Galleon. Just to give you an idea of which ships I sail the most.

Personally, I like to have all three war ships for the optons and for the collective aspect.
The first war ship I'd buy is a war galleon. Great broadsides and great cargo hold which will help you quickly gain the gold needed for another war ship. I always use my war galleon to go plundering. Afterwards buy either a war sloop or a war frigate (war sloop will obviously be easier to acqure the funds for, but maybe you're a saving type.) Use the war sloop to quickly travel from island to island for when you just need to get somewhere and don't need/want to go plundering on the way. Other than that it is fairly useless to be honest. War frigate is the best ship for PvP. It is reasonably swift, has decent broadsides, has good armour and great cannons for your crew to shoot down those pesky French/Spaniards. It's a good balance between the War Sloop and the War Galleon. |

I say frigate. They're faster, have more health (the galleon has more armor though), thay've got more guns, and they just plain look cool. In my opinion, Galleons are just too slow.

I used to believe the War Galleon was the best ship due to its superior cargo handling. But I sail alone most of the time and with my booty capped at 65,000 I prefer the War Frigate and its handling of more abuse from the enemy ships

I prefer the WS now. Having the full war fleet I don't have much use for gold and the other ships are to slow for me now adays. The WF is nice for SVS with big crews, WG for plundering, and WS for traveling between islands and SVS.

I love the front cannons. They have millions of tactics that I love. Biting the tail, the reverse, the complete-turn turn-gait: they rock.
If the front-facing rear cannons of the heavier Galleons can be used anything like the Frigate's cannons, then it may have a showing. Still, I like every class except the Galleon, for practical matters. |
