What ship is better to have war galleon or war frigate ?
 

In my opinion war frigate is better because you can have more players in your crew and it's very hard to defeat the war frigate and it holds tons of gold.:12_1_138:

The answer of this question will be varying opinions from others, as individual style/preference will end up making the final determination for any pirate.

Wether your preference is SvS or NPC plundering could make a difference.

I personally prefer the War Galleon. The only advantages I see of the War Frigate is it can hold more crew/guildmates, and it has front guns (which do me no good while sailing). I am more a plunder of NPC ships, than into SvS so I dont frequent the SvS shipping lanes. I havent found a ship in the ocean yet that I cant sink with my War Galleon, and every trip is worth a little more (it holds more).

i prefer the gallions because you can hold more cargo while plundering :dancetl6:

I would get the war frigate first then the war galleon.
The ar galleon is good for cargo but the war frigate is great when working on quest.
The war frigate is great for raming ships too.
If you wan a lot of money to hold get the war galleon.
But I think the war frigate would be better to get first.

After taking out my new War Galleon, I prefer it's speed and back cannons that can reach past the front of the ship. I never thought I would like the War Galleon over the War Frigate, but I do.

I've now decided I think the War Frigate is the best ship to have.
Why?
a) It's far faster than the War Galleon- If you don't believe me, I'll race you.
b) It's stronger.
c) It's great for if you have large crews.
d) It's also great if you're sailing alone, as I do frequently, due to the many cannons there are, & so close to the steering wheel, I sunk the Behomoth single handedly in a War Frigate.
e) The front cannons are great.
f) The broadsides are more powerful.
g) More manoeuvrable
Not to mention the fact that (other than the light sloop) it owns the SvS field. =]

I used to like the War Galleon best, but really, after getting a war frigate, I've found the only benefit it has to having a frigate is the amount of plunder you can have.

It all depends on what yer planning on doing with her, mate!

If it's SvS or a big crew sail, use the Frigate.
If it's for collecting a bunch of treasure or you're single-handing, use the Galleon.

Is this using the "raw" ship or when you are using modifiers like Full Sail and Ramming speed?

If i am reading the specs right, the War Galleon has more sail ability = faster, right?

Nope, this is raw sailing. No skills used.
The frigate beats the galleon hands down, regardless of the passive skills.
Even if you use as you put it, modifier skills, the frigate still beats the galleon.

The sail points that are present in the specs., in my opinion, relate to the amount of sails that a ship has, that can be shot down via cannon fire, not to the speed of the ship, otherwise the Galleon would be the fastest ship out there, not the slowest, as it is right now.

I think it's a common mistake, many people believe that the galleon is faster purely because of it's specs. (the sail points) which I think, have been misunderstood.

I like my War Galleon better.
It's by far stronger, holds more plunder, and why do you need 12 on your ship at a time?
I sail solo, even in PvP, it's not hard with high sailing and high cannons.
23 sailing 23 cannons all day!

Right before my unlimited expired, I timed all the ships from port royal to devil's anvil. Sloops were seven seconds faster than frigates, which were seven seconds faster than galleons. War class was only one second faster than regular class; regular was only one second faster than light class.

That said, the war sloop is by far, the most unpleasant ship to drive. The war galleon is by far the most enjoyable. Max gold just kindof magically happens, once you have the war galleon. Unfortunately, with the changes they made to add SvS, driving a war galleon in SvS is best described as "wearing a kick-me sign." So keep a light sloop handy.

I just got my first War Galleon just a couple of weeks ago. I tend to be either alone, or sailing with my wife, so it took a while to get to 40,000 gold : )

However I'm already half way to having the gold for a War Frigate simply because of the amount of cargo I can nail using the War Galleon! wow!

I think I'll buy the War Frigate when I get up there and keep both. I'll have a better opinon once I use the War Frigate.
