SAILING: Now, I hadn't noticed this on test, but they have something right going there. My Light Sloop does 10 kts, but my War Sloop does 12 kts. That is generally correct. A little fast, but correct that the larger ship with more sail (assuming similar hull design) should actually travel faster.
What surprised me was what happens when you get hit! If you take a hit form ANYTHING (even if it does little or no damage) your speed drops drastically! My War Sloop will go from 14 kts (with a Full Sail) to 5 kts when one little bitty light sloop bounces a pebble off the deck! Weird days.... SUGGESTION: Slow the ships WAY down! They are ripping around like jet-skis out there! It doesn't matter what the number (speed in kts) reads--that's just an arbitrary number compared to the actual speed in game. Just slow the boats down. Also, I can see speed being slowed by sail damage or hull damage, but dropping to less than half your speed when you get just a scratch? Not making sense here. So, DROP SPEED BASED ON AMOUNT OF DAMAGE. The more damage to the hull and sails (sails would cause more speed reduction) the slower ye go, not just an absolute drop to 5 kts because you got bumped by a light sloop.
