Although the posts were worded a little negatively, it can't be considered as much of a downer as it is pointing out a flaw.

I can see a bunch of people running around, preying on low level players and privateers, or better yet, letting their friends sit around and do nothing while they blast away to rank up. This will end up with hundreds of pirates running around with the top rank within the first few days, claiming that they are "Gods" at PvP and SvS.

Back on topic, it's a VERY good idea overall. This will really bring back some interest in to the one area of the game that really needs revival. Can't wait for it

Might be a good idea for it to only count if they are 5 levels or less below you. The person may not be afk as well.

Well they should have the points based on who ya beat. so say beating a 50 is worth 50, and beating a level 1 is worth 1. That way it is more rewarding to occasionally beat a good pirate rather than bully the little guys all day.

I sent an email to disney saying they should make it more diverse, so that includes cannon defense, fishing, land enemies, sailing (forgot about reviving people =( that should get a badge too) etc.

I'm not an avid PvP/SvS'er, but the added competition could change all that. It seems like a great addition. But as the posts before me state, all that will change if infamy is granted for killing level 1's all day to get max infamy in a matter of days. (Such skill...) I know Disney is trying to make the game more interesting, but unless they make it so that infamy cannot be granted for killing someone 49 levels below you, or as Celtics said, grant the same number of infamy as the defeated person's level, this addition will be abused 110%.

I hope that in the process of releasing this update, that they take this into consideration. It has the potential to be an excellent source of competition, but only if it's genuine.

That's easy to remedy - Allow only X infamy point(s) to be granted from a specific person [per day?], so you are forced to go after a variety of randoms.

EDIT: Guess I didn't paint my picture clear enough.

Say you defeat my Lv. 50 pirate in PVP. From that 5 minute battle, you get X amount of points. But until tomorrow (or some other set amount of time), that's ALL the points you can get from me. You will have to PVP someone else to get more infamy points during that same day, week, etc.

I really like how it can show your badges on your name tag thing. That's pretty cool, but I wonder if they'll have awards along with badges for doing certain pvp/svs things. that would be cool.

You probably get more infamy for defeating a more infamous pirate, just like leveling. Eventually, killing level 1 skeletons isn't as effective as killing Darkhart 10 times.
