Modest little request about staff

Why not add a feature into the game where we can choose the colors of our spells? It gets kinda boring having the same plain color with the level 15 staff. It would be nice to see a little change in the color.

Anyone else agree?

Thanks for reading, and stay lighthearted

What colors are you referring too? I dont think I understand.

The spells themselves arent "colors" they are artwork/animations taking place when casted, so im not sure where any color change would apply or be an advantage (seems they would mess up the animation looks wise in particular).

The color of the staff itself is determined by WHICH staff you have, and is used to identify visually which staff you have.

Care to elaborate on what your suggesting?
Just not sure what colors your suggesting should be changeable.

If you mean the primary staff skill... yea.. that would be neat to change colors on.

Well, I'm refering to how once you get a staff, you are stuck with the color of spells the staff produces (like warped staff makes your spells have a greenish tint). When you get the harrows staff at level 15, everything looks grey or white (not including the flames skull, it looks the same on everyone of the staffs). I think it would be a cool feature to choose the colors of the spells your staff produces, kind of adds a little flavor into the staff.

I know of at least one pirate who chose her clothing based on what color wither was doing. The green outfits worked the best, but the staff that does green looks so dumb, she didn't keep it very long.

That is a bit cool, at least it would add a bit more customization to the game and more uniqueness to characters. My biggest pet peeve about the game is after all how repetitive it is. Maybe even a class system, so that way voodoo users can only use a staff or a doll and that way the magic and spells can become more advanced and fun to use.

That way you can also really make your character more unique.

doing that would give an even greater advantage to unlimited users over basic users in pvp

I don't think I understand. If you mean we have to choose between getting a staff and doll then that seems strange. I'd like to have both. Other games make you choose between what weapons you can have and pirates is nice letting us get all of them.

Unlimited users should have an advantage over people who play the game but don't pay. Why should basic users get what unlimited users get when they don't even pay for the game?

Now, I know what you mean by changing the colors, so I think I would like that.

Yes it is nice to get them all I agree with that. However at the end of the day you can end up like every other level 40 player WITH minor differences because of your skill points. And it's not enough to really notice, on top of it all the islands practically have the same lay out. Then on top of that almost every quest is exactly the same. Sure it may say get crab claws, then crab legs, then go sink a few ships come back and do it again only with flies and skeleton ships this time.

If everything is the same then where is the fun of playing a game that is just doing the same thing over and over for forty levels?

Getting all the weapons is fun but you should still specialize a class system or job system something that says, I want to be a duelist or a sniper, or a mage. Things like that make you think more on what you want to be in the game then oh don't worry I'll have that in 5 levels.

Then to top it off with the re-train value you can just switch things around according to a quest your on. On there is a boss monster here that is weak against "blah" So I will put all my points into that and then this to benefit the main attack.

What I was pretty much saying was for pirates, you get all the weapons. You also decide to take job levels, something used in Final Fantasy Tactics. That way you can lets say use all the weapons however what ever your job level is for let's say your sword, if you use your voodoo more, obviously you will want to use voodoo over sword. Job level increases so much more due to this class or job system. At the end of the day you can with the cash buy any weapon you want that doesn't mean your good with it, but if you train with it (through a class level idea) you then can improve it. That way if your with 10 voodoo staff users all 10 will be much different, because the class will give you choices of where to put your abilities. Extra Voodoo points, able to use your staff as a melee weapon if you run out of voodoo and need to beat a crab away. Things like that.

You seem to be getting off topic.
As far as class...I don't agree. If we can get all the weapons and then specialize in one, that'd be ok.

I would like to see staff spell colors be customized. This gets me wondering about weapon customization ideas.

It's a tad bit off topic I agree, I was just simply using other things with in the game to show what I mean about customization. Almost every game that uses customization has a class system to make it fair and more fun.

For instance here it could be.
Witchdoctor, Quarter Master, Privateer and so on. This allows you to customize a lot more. Such as the witch doctor being able to customize his spells. Making his fire spells be a like black fire to show if he's got a bit of an evil twist, or a blueish flame to show that he's got the favor of the Caribbean gods such as Calypso you know things like that. That way making your spells different colors give you a bit more insensitive. One may be stronger then the other, but that would be specializing with a weapon but you can do that with in a class system. Because if you can specialize with all weapons then everyone will have spells that are different colors and eventually it's nothing new.

I remember when I met the first person ever with a staff or even the pistol and it's like oh wow that guy has been around longer then me. Yet now? Most of the new members are just people replaying the game after they beat it so where is the fun. If you customize your character with a class level now it makes the weapons even more valuable to the system. I know if I took a class to be a mage I'd make sure my staff or doll was extremely unique and did awesome spells. Such as a fireball that shoots towards the enemy and then engulfs them into a fire.

With a class system you can have let's say like with the ship names or character names. Your doing a class witchdoctor so now you have let's say three categories with lets say 20 options each. Everyone at the end of the day will have pretty much different spells in look and design. I know that if I had a crew that, what they could do would be a great asset to the team. I think having that creative edge to your weapons would help greatly. Creating your own spells by customizing them is just the easiest one to bring up.
