It cracks me up when I see fire on the beach or a spot on the floor or a table. I just think its funny to see. Kinda freaked me out the first time I saw it. lol

The fire sprites was an issue months ago - then was fixed for the longest time... of course this latest update seems to be a step backward in many areas including the 'random fires' LOL

So, yes. They had firefighters back then, and by the early 1700's, they even had fire brigades with rudimentary fire engines!

In Europe yes ...

In the Caribbean ... I seriously doubt they had anything more organized than a "bucket brigade" ... in Port Royal ... maybe ... and in Tortuga ... nothing ...

And where in the Caribbean, including Tortuga, did they have ghost-like cannonballs, or the ability to shoot lightning from ship to ship?

I fear the Caribbean universe we enjoy so much does not hinge upon the trivialities of reality......

I know a while back when you glitched a ship to go through a Island, you could shoot up Tortuga, Port Royal etc. Using Fire cannon balls then would make these random fires a lot.

With that being such a high glitch server, probably what someone is doing to lag out the Island during the events? Be my guess.
