Grappling onto enemy ships?

I know that you are supposed to wait until you see the green circles on the enemy ship, but I've never seen them. I've heard that you have to disable the ship to see the green circles. Do you have to get it down to almost sunk, or do you have to have the sails destroyed, too?

The only ship I have been able to grapple onto are the Navy Vanguards. Once you disable it the circles will appear on the railing of the ship. Still havent figured out how to board though, maybe later.

Yup. I've gotten onto two Navy Vanguards. After you grapple, walk as far as you can towards the other ship (it should stop you when you are on the railing) then click Control when it says Press Control to board enemy ship. Then it'll do a swinging on a rope animation and you'll be on it. Just do the same thing, but towards your ship to get back.

Be warned! It is extremely buggy when you have boarded another ship! By far the most glitchy place in-game. You could easily fall into the ship, go flying, turn pitch black, or any bug you've encountered in regular places. Once when I boarded, Navy Sergeants kept respawning very quickly, and they all came after me. ._.

hmm I can't get to that at all. I would shoot my grapple but it never hooks onto the ship... any ideas?

Well grappling is a very sketchy part of the game, some have done it, others not.

Some navy ships end up not sinking, after youve got the red hull bar down, if u come along side when this happens you can see circles, u can grapple then and attatch hooks.

However even after that i havent manged to board a ship, it just ends up staying connected to my ship until i leave my ship. LOL.

The game hasn't yet made boarding the ship a requirement for a task that u need to board for to complete, seems u can do these tasks by defeating the ship required.

Being that i haven't actually boarded a ship i dont know what u can find there, altho only ever seen some silly guards on there, can fight them on land easy enough.

So if it was me, i wouldnt bother with it, it seems a buggy area of game anyways.

I've found that the green circles come up once the sails have been shot down so that the ship can't sail away. Switch from the cannon shot to the grappling hooks, and aim for the green circles. If your shot is successful, you'll see a rope slung between your ship and the enemy ship. The program will pull the ships closer. Exit your stance at the cannon and walk to the railing like you want to exit the ship. When the ship is close enough, the program will indicate "Press Control to board enemy ship" (or something similar).

Once you're on board, a variety of things could happen. Fight the soldiers. Take over the helm (although once a soldier got back to the helm after I left it, and I was stranded on this enemy ship, unable to exit the ship or take back over the helm with soldiers that kept respawning ). Or get hit with a bug. We crash enough times in the other parts of the program that it's worth the risk of a dc to see what will happen when you board the ship.

Happy hunting.

yeah i've gotten aboard their ships before and i didn't shoot the sails, just the ship itself. sometimes it sinks, sometimes it gives green circles i think its just luck lol
