Steering your ship

I have noticed when I first buy a ship, when I am sailing, the screen follows the direction I am sailing. However, the next time I sail the ship, I have to keep turning the screen to see where I am going.

Is there a setting that I can use to rectify this problem? Or is this just a known bug?

I use mouse to control which way the 3rd person view is looking while sailing, u can get 360' view, good for scouting out ships and islands without changing direction.

Can't say i've ever noticed whether screen changes from being at front each time u start to move off again after initial launch.

Dunno if this is a bug or not, im so used keeping view frontal with mouse while moving, from other games, so doesn't bother me in slightest, as i said above, i like the free look aspect for finding things off angle.

I spose its possible they will put a view setting in so u can fix it, at some point.

Make sure the game menu/toolbar isn't showing. That's when the mouse control comes in.

I've found that whenever you first take the wheel the default view is right behind and slightly above you and follows along as you turn. Then if you hit tab or a shortcut key, M, J, K for instance, it goes to an independent view which you then must control with your mouse. If you prefer the other view, press escape and step away from the wheel, then back to it, and you should be back to the "sticky" view.

That was my problem. I did use the shortcut keys. I like the 360 to position myself for shooting, however, I like the other view when I am just cruising along. Its nice to know we can use both ways. Even when by mistake
