How do you rate PotC Online Beta overall?

This includes: Amount of bugs, gameplay enjoyment, graphics, everything, into one big rating.

A far cry from the Lord of the Rings beta I've been testing as well. They have some serious issues that need to be worked out of POTCO. First off, the horrible lag then go from there.

Wow, nice poll... I don't understand why the graphics were so good at the start.

Just to let a handfull of people know what is was ment to look like (now it looks like Toon Town)... But they even show video of a game on the web page (even that looks more like my Play Station coppy).

I just can't help thinking they knew it wasn't going to work out. But then again, am I the only one that can't get most of the links on any DX page to work?...

Anyway, I can't even force myself to stay in the game longer than it takes to see they haven't made any updates... With all the changes that need to be made, I don't see a point in advancing much further in the game.

I'm like, level 8... every time I log in I get the "Go see Tia Dalma"... Nothing I can do... If I go in the cave I crash...

Things like that make make me think the whole game might be re-set soon (do over)...

Graphics - 8/10 (I don't know what they look like when I can't get on... But from screenshots I think they're good)

Bugs - 0/10 (This puts me into great disappointment, as half the beta testers cannot/have not expereienced the game)

Gameplay Enjoyment - 0/10 (I could not experence the came, so I can't rate it)

Overall Enjoyment with System - 0/10 (I really can't do anything because I have not been able to get on.)

When I was still able to get on, I really enjoyed it - knew they had to work on lag and freezing and stuff which was a pain to deal with - wasn't real happy with some aspects but that is probably because I'm not a big MMO player and I didn't know what I was doing... The fact that I keep trying to get back on (even though there haven't been further updates that will allow me back on) makes me want to say that I still want to play - even with all the bugs!

I put acceptable - 6/10 (assuming thats what u meant for 6/10 )

Altho on buggy side of things it would be 2/10 needs a lot of work.

I actually like the play of game when u can actually get on a play it a bit.

On the lag front i hope its just cause they not cranked up the servers yet, after all, yesterday, there was only 30 people on each of the two worlds they were running and it was very laggy still. I've played on rent your own clan servers that play better than that for a lot smaller games.

I think u've got have your doubts about playing, and then probs paying (being as from things ive read recently, you will have to pay for all acceess, and adverts will just lag u more anyways) for game that at this moment in time, supposedly very near to launch, that hasn't even solved the sea versus land isssue on the AI front.

Still maybe these issues are being turned around as we speak, and that it will come out nearish to current release prospects, and working with lag in resonable limits. Hmmmm

I have had a test toon account for a while, however got it after the game went public, so I guess this is for my first true Beta experience.

It's very frustrating to have to keep creating new Pirates every weekend because they keep getting stuck on quests that cannot be "turned in". The lagging and bugs in graphics are bareable, but would be much more so if I could finish a friggin quest. I have tried like 5 different crew members for Jack and gotten stuck before any of them could be completed. Maggie & William could each be named Sybil they have had so darn many personalities.

I guess you could say I am "grinding" Maggie & William now, just building up their pistols & swords because I am hoping that a new patch will allow me to continue on with the quests each of them is on right now. Something new I learned on this board, never knew what I was doing had a name...Grinding...LOL

If it were not for this board and learning that this is what Beta actually is, I probably would have given up a long time ago.

As to a release in Spring or even Summer, I don't see that as a possibility because there have been minimal improvements in the time I have been playing, and at that pace, no way is a release date anytine before Labor Day, IMHO.

Well I think its horrible because I applied for beta early last year and they didnt accept me. if you all think there is terrible lag and playstation ripoffs, then i don't think they are going to be able to release the game within 19 days- when summer comes. Why must they say "oh, this is going to be released spring 2007.. OOPS! typo. spring 2008..."

I voted 7/10 - not too bad.

I have tested games a lot worse than POTCO in the current state...that when released, did very well.

Also tested games that were very polished and a lot of content...that later ceased to exist.

It really all depends on how along the Development cycle is the current state of POTCO? If they are wanting to release in 3 months...I will feel very sad for them. The game is currently not fleshed out enough. There has to be more content that will keep players in the game. You can only sink so many ships or complete every quest a finite number of times before you don't care about the game anymore. They need more 'hooks' to keep us around.

I think these are just basic ideas that have been presented in the game. The 'foundations' as it were. What they will be building on the foundations will be wonderous, I hope!
