Demolition vs. Toughness
Mastered my nades at not.lvl 25 & now I got 4 pts left over & not sure where to use it in the Passive Skills. I already got Determination & Ignore Pain maxed, got 1 pt in Demolition currently & 0 in Toughness.
Just wonder if anyone knows how good/big is the area effect of cannons is Demolition at rank 5? If I were to fire a firebrand at a side of a ship, would the whole side of the ship catch fire? Or is it like if I'm trying to aim for a section of the ship that's weak already coz its on fire but miss it terribly & hit the water, would it still count as me hitting the ship? I'm not sure what this "area of effect" is all about.... I mean I notice it when I throw nades but not too sure how it effect cannons. It sounds kinda life if I'm trying to shoot sails off, and miss, but somehow it counts as me hitting it. And how is Toughness at rank 4 (since that's all the pts I got), is it really noticable that it decreases the amount of damage ur ship takes in normal sailing or is it only effective in SvS? |

Easily put, the area that is damaged is larger, hull damage does not increase, but is spread across a larger portion of the hull. |

Since the ability to reassign Skill points is coming put some skill points into 1 of them then see how good it is... if its not good then reassign it when the new feature comes.

I'm with Swash. I have put 1 point in every skill that opens up just to have it available. Then when my new pirate is mastered i will put the other skill points in based on how I want my pirate to be.
Like Swash said, put 1 point in and see what difference it makes. Then make your decision about the rest of the points. |

Aye I usually put a point into something just so i can have it lol but thats going to change once Reassigning comes.

Swash is counting on the usage of "reassigning" skill points prior to even knowing how it is to be implemented. I would recommend holding off on relying on that too much just yet. Its a neat thing to have, but I dont think they are going to make it so you can just rearrange your skill points on a whim like some make it sound that would be idiotic. If it costs you 50k gold to change a single skill point, thats alot of plunder to fix a 'test' assignment. |

Zep then lets ask a Test Pirate on here the price of Reassigning.

That would be a good start on that subject. However even whats in test can be changed when it head to open. But better than just making assumptions.
![]() It just came out on test today. |

Looks like I worded some things wrong in my statement above. My bad!!!
I will be playing on test tonight. Hopefully some of us will be able to inform everyone how much it cost at this present moment. Like Zep said, it might change later on. |

I'll be on as well later tonight - and though my poor test pirate has no real points that need to be reassigned - I am stopping by the shop to see the first price of doing one...
I'll be sure to post it (or blog it) once I get more info

250 --> 2500. (Though the guy told me 25000! Maybe he just added an extra 0 on... I didn't have a point dedicated in Test yet, so I actually had to ask someone else what the price was.)
Oh, and I didn't know Demolition increased the area effect of cannonballs. However, you should be wary of it: a too large radius will make the Grenades unreasonable weapons, and they actually are a decent go to--practical reload times, decent damage; as well, they are no hindrance to running save the Siege Charge. |

Sorry, wat does that mean? The first reassignment was only 250 gp? How many intervening resets did it take to get to the max, 2,500 gp?
Grenades are forever useless. They are harder to aim than a pistol. PREPOSTEROUS. Toughness makes a noticeable difference in the boss battle. Since all NPC ships are random, it is unfair to compare the damage from one level 18 phantom to another. But from my guesstimates, it is a significant difference...way more than the mere 15% it says it is reducing damage on. |
