Not really sure I understand how adding new ranks would be unfair to current Officers in a guild. I know adding ranks will bring about its own set of problems, (how come he/she got this rank and I didn't, I out rank you, do what I say, etc.), but I've seen that in the game with just the Officer/Member ranks.

I think the addition of ranks would be a good way show appreciation to loyal members of a guild. Maybe something like:

Swabby: Rank upon entering a guild

Deckhand: Rank given after being active in a guild for a period of one month, does not receive any additional privileges.

Petty Officer: Rank given after being active in a guild for a period of two months and reaching notoriety level 15. Able to recruit new members, not able to eject members, not able to demote members below his/her rank.

Captain: Rank given after being active in a guild for a minimum of two months and reaching notoriety level 20. Able to recruit new members, able to promote members from Swabby to Deckhand, able to demote members below rank of Petty Officer, not able to eject members.

Commodore: Rank given after being active in a guild for a minimum of four months and reaching notoriety level 30. Able to recruit new members, able to promote members up to the rank of Petty Officer, able to demote any rank below Captain, able to eject any member below rank of Captain.

Admiral: Co-GM Rank. Chosen by the founding GM. Must be at least notoriety level 35. Able to perform all duties of the GM.

Those are only suggestions, ranks and their corresponding privileges would be set by Disney, the notoriety levels and time in guild requirements would be set by the individual GMs.

I would prefer they focus on a few useful things.

Ideas are great, but sometimes the ideas get too carried away.

Guild management is where guild functionality needs its most work.

Ability to switch GMs, ability to switch GMs if current GM is inactive/basic for x amount of time.

The internal "whispering" is "private" but not really private and is governed by the same rules and read/reviewed by the same censors as regular chat.

As for any internal messaging? They dont have a decent means of submitting bugs within the game, expecting guild pm'ing is well... id rather have a decent means of submitting bugs within the game.

Guild Ranking is a good idea... I think adding goals for players within a guild would inspaire loyality and group play.

I would change a few things on the list though:

- Instead of running hard Level and Date Targets... set the ranking up by Noriety Points earned within that Guild (for example you start at Swabby, you need 15,000 to become a Deckhand in that Guild). Players on more will be awarded with 'possible promotion' sooner (see next point) and GM's would know who is more dedicated to being on the game.

- Allow Custom Controls to the GM to make the advancements whe the player reaches the goal noriety, not just award the rank (like unlocking a new weapon skill at the weapon shop... the player listed in the guild list would say 'Promote To Deckhand' or 'Promote To Pirate'... as some players shouldnt be promoted too far even if they obtain higher levels

- By using Noriety Points instead - if a pirate discovers the guild they are in is 'not good' and wants to change - then they can leave to another guild and earn the rankings again - that way new high members dont get rewarded right away

- When the player becomes Mastered, all the options open to the GM to do promotion to that player (solving the issue of 'what happens if the player moves to a guild late in the game and cant earn all the points to gett all the rankings before maxing their pirate')

- Change Petty Officer to Pirate! Too many Navy Terms LOL

All joking aside, really good ideas, point system would probably be a better way to go. Too bad many of us will never see it happen. Like Xep pointed out, too many other issues that need to be addressed first. But it is fun to dream

So how about:

Swabby
Deckhand
Pirate
Pirate Captain
Pirate Master
Priate Lord

I don't like, in the game called Pirates Online, to have to work to be called a pirate. Ultimately, the guild is supposed to work how the guildmaster wants it to work: I don't see why you're talking about earned ranks within the guild, as they could already be earned or a given with the guildmaster.

I posted suggestions relating to this in the Grog Blog:
First there are two badly needed options for guildmasters, the first option being the ability to appoint a second in command giving the second full powers as acting GM. My level 40 pirate is second in command of a guild with an absent GM. I'm lucky to have contact with the GM once a month and only able to suggest officer promotions at that time. Secondly I'd like to see GM's given the option of stepping down and leaving the guild if they wish, with command of the guild being passed on to a second in command. I've seen several guilds destroyed when the GM decided to leave the game and the guild was deleted casting all the members adrift and guildless.

I'm also in favor of having a rank system within the guilds along with some sort of awards and medals for rewarding outstanding members and players.

Stepping down is a good idea, and 2nd in command is as well. I also like my lock option, to create members that can't be removed by officers.

By a Co-Gm if you mean a co-guild master then I like the idea. I think you meant that.
I would like that. A right hand man for a guild master would be nice.
Of course handing down a guild to another member would be nice too.

Here are some options I think would be nice.
I would like to be able to give officers different powers.
Ex. I give one officer the power to recruit members while another officer can only eject members.

I would like to be able to put a limit on how many people an officer can eject.
Two, three, etc...
This would be to make sure if an officer got out of line he/she wouldn't be able to take all the members out. Of course once they used up the ejects I can decide weather or not they can eject anymore members.

I would like to see alerts given to guild masters.
An example of an alert would be if an officer ejects a member I get an alert that said who the officer ejected and a report of why they did so. If it's not a good reason I will be able to teleport to that member to bring them back because they were ejected for an unfair reason.

To League: I would like to see that lock on members.

Though I have never had a problem in Parrotheads, I really like this idea!
