Your opinion on these new enemies and bosses....

So here are my questions.
It seems as though the devs put in the print mailer and front page of the site that new enemies and bosses will be coming.
The enemies will have that yellow or orange skull right?
So what levels do you think they'll be?
What will they look like?
When do you think they'll be out?
If there's only a few then wont it be hard to fight them if so many people come on to see/battle them?

So please give me your opinions and try to answer the questions.
I would like to see what people have to say about these new enemies than just me.

Bosses:
Skulls: Yes
Levels: 27+
Looks: Basically whatever type of enemy they will be, they will look like the main enemy base of that class. Ex. Skeleton boss: Grenaider/Captain looks
Release: Sometime between mid-October and Halloween, the anniversary of POTCO

they said high level, lv 20+ isn't high leveled. i'd assume a minimum lv of 35 and possibly over lv 40. they are bosses and should provide at least a half epic battle against a 2-5man team, a lv 20 couldn't do that if their hp was tripled lol.

well that's just my 2 cents, we'll see when the come out i guess lol

I would hope in the lvl 35+ range (and past 40) myself.

Perhaps such boss's will take you to a "boss battle" arena when you engage them. (they said boss battles would be repeatable, might something like this be what they meant?)

As far as when? I do not anticipate anything until we hear wind of it from our forums testers, nothing hits open before it hits test.

Yeah I also hope for 40+. A special arena built for the bosses would be cool. But it should respawn like normal monsters... not like every hour. Also there should be only 1 party at a time and once they are done they get kicked out and have to enter again so other parties get a chance too. A special island with only those monsters would be cool too.

I propose the boss would always remain for anyone to initiate the boss battle and not require respawning, or respawning at the completion of a initiated boss battle.

You would be ported away to a Treasure map to fight the boss (like current BB).

An arena would be nice but...
The wasps boss got me thinking.
So Perdida is where it will be perhaps?
I'm thinking we'll have to go to a certain are to fighting them with their minions.

I like that arena idea.
As far as some of your opinions I have to agree with Zep.
Anything 35+ is what it should be in my opinion.
But only depending on where they are.
So when there's a wasps I'm going to say it being a level 25-30 would be a good spot for it's level.

I think they are going to make chapter 2 to unlock the monsters Boss battle. Like you have to unlock the Black pearl quest boss battle. But if they do that they should raise the notoreity quests in my opinion.

The bosses should be immune to certain types of combat: the terrifying skeleton lieutenant guy should use a Staff, as no one enemy does that. He should be immune to voodoo, and have such a large supply of voodoo and health that he is immune (basicly) to the Pistol shots to the ones that you'd expect to be used against him, Hex-eater and Silver. He should also have a Cutlass. Unlike with the Staff, he'd only be somewhat decent with that, as it'd be a backdrop for those that get close. That'd mean that a Cutlass is the only reasonable thing to fight against him with other than a Dagger.

I'm working on the ideas of fighting the wasp and gator guys. As well, I'm thinking of a stump boss and a crab boss, and, perhaps, a Devilroot flytrap. With 6 bosses, perhaps each one can have a weapon that is best used against it.

The gator is probably going to be bigger and have a different color.
I like the idea of an enemy with a satff.
We need an enemy with a staff and ot be immune to other people's voodoo? That would be a fun challenge!

I would have to disagree with this idea.

Obviously only within the descriptions of the weapon/skill itself (like steel shot vs silver shot). Otherwise, I do not see the point. Make the boss hard to beat, dont limit the weaponry any differently than it would be for a regular version of the mob.

Let me just start by saying everything in this post is my pure speculation. Although I am backing up most of my statments with reason and some proof, I am purely making accusations of this future release.

-----LEVEL-----
Levelwise, I would personally like to see the new bosses be around the 30 to 40+ range, since they mention that you should plan to bring a crew to fight these beasts.
-----Visual-----
As for what they would look like, I'm going to pull out the POTCO news archive really quick...

New Enemies Set to Invade the Islands August 27 2008
Pirates Beware!

In addition to new Quest adventures, rumor has it, new enemies will be invading the Caribbean. These new enemies will pose quite a challenge to many a buccaneer. To glance at journal pages from an unlucky Pirate that faced these foes -- click here to view the pages found near his remains.

----Images(Concept Art)----

I would take it that these will be the basis of our new beasties, which means there is a possibility of a bat and stump being included in the mix. We can tell however, that assuming this picture is from their private testing server (which I would assume it is)...

... that the pirate plans have been changed completely to resemble that of an Undead Pirate more than what they had in the concept art, which appeared to me as a pirate that would tamper in the ways of Voodoo. Also, I would like to further make the assumption that this is concept art of some of our new bosses from 1 consistency in the new pic and the concept art, as well as something mentioned by the GMs. The consistency between the two pictures is that both the concept art and image have the monsters carrying an eerie green glow, which is backed up by a statment from Xavier Hench. (Credit to William of POF for this info)

Quote:
NEW ENEMIES AND BOSSES

Xavier: Jolly is sending new enemies to attempt to destroy our pirate way of life.
These new enemies will be larger, stronger than anything you or I have seen before.
They carry a misterius green glow so dont attempt to defeat one alone.
[...]
Xavier: Remember to take a crew, friends or guild to fight the new bosses.
There are no easy push overs.
I can tell you a tale of one... his name is Simon Butcher...
He is the leader of a horde of Undead Pirates... beware... he has higher powers than anything we 've seen in the Caribbean yet.
Keep your ears to the wind... we will be announcing more details shortly...
-----Accessability-----
I have to agree, with the way they mention these enemies that they'll be out in the open, which would make it hard to battle them. I would suggest since they mention having the new weapon quests in which you must kill a boss monster to finish the quest, that there be something in the map which you must have the quest to examine, and when you examine it then 1 of 2 things happens.
  1. You are transported to a "dungeoun"-esque map where the boss and possibly a few minions reside, taking anyone with the party with you.
  2. The boss is spawned near the examination point upon examining whatever it may be, and you fight it in that map.

-----Release Time-----
Not much I have to say on this one, since it's not even on the invitation Test Server. Might make a prediction when they are released there, judging by the issues we have with them, but until then I'm gonna leave it be.
