POTC Ride History!

I thought some of you POTC ride fans might enjoy reading this.

Pirates of the Caribbean was envisioned in the late 1950s as a walk-through wax museum at Disneyland that would have featured depictions of real pirates from history in static scenes. Instead, Disney Imagineers utilized the technological breakthroughs achieved in the company's four pavilions at the 1964-65 World's Fair to transform the attraction into a rollicking boat ride through vivid environments filled with fictional Audio-Animatronic pirates sacking a Caribbean seaport. Its theme song, Yo Ho (A Pirate's Life for Me), sets a lighthearted tone for what were seen as violent criminals historically.

The last Disney theme park attraction designed with input from Walt Disney, it opened in its original form in New Orleans Square at Disneyland on March 18, 1967. Since then, it has been replicated in different forms at three subsequent Disney theme parks — Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort (December 15, 1973), Tokyo Disneyland (April 15, 1983) and Disneyland Paris (April 12, 1992).

Pirates has ALWAYS been my favorite Disneyland ride. I was estatic when they announed the first movie. My brother was excited about the Haunted Mansion (his favorite ride). I'm still rubbing it in that Pirates took off and did so great!

How does anyone feel about the updated version of pirates? I thought the fog with Davey Jones was awesome. It was also a lot of fun to try and spot Captain Jack Sparrow.

Unfortunately, I never rode a POTC ride..
Oh well... VMK and POTC:O will ease my pain.

You've never lived until you've ridden a POTC ride The updated version is a lot of fun, like I said.

I love the Davy Jones fog! it kind of creepy when he appears right when you're about to go through the fog. I always hit the fog.

Yeah, the fog freaked me out the first time I went on it. I made my friends wait in the like 4 more times that day

Yes, it's very good! It has always been my favorite ride! it's just so unique!
I live SUPER far away from Disneyland, so I don't go there often. But every time I've gone there, POTC has always been the last ride I ride before I leave.

Way better (Mansion fans please don't hurt me @_@) that HM rides. Just getting in the boat, riding by the people in the Blue Bayou. All of it, so much fun and so many memories there for me. Heck if I could arrange to get married on the ride I would!

The thing about the ride is that there is so much to see on the ride. It would take SO many rides to actually see it all.

That is so true. You need to ride at LEAST three times. LOL. Once to stare at your right side, one on your left side, one to look at stuff up in the air and them maybe toss in abou 8 more times just to soak up the atmosphere.

It's also a very soothing ride. It's a good ride to go on if you want to relax from all the walking around the park.

That too. It's away from the heat, a little water, not all loud and screaming.

Like I said, right by the Blue Bayou as well. I enjoy eating there because I always feel so relaxed. The banjo plucking and the sounds of the bugs. LOL, I'm a sucker for the whole thing from start to finish. My favorite part is coming around the bend at the end and seeing the people in line for the ride. I always feel like yelling to them that the line wait was worth it, but I usually restrain myself.

There's a hidden mickey on that island where that parrot is. it's a little mickey toy. I know it's a real hidden mickey because it's been confirmed.
