the path just turned to the west so i will be on the dirty side again. louisiana ain't getting nothing cuz the wind zone stops at the boarder of texas. it will be a cat 3 when it hits land. it wasn't a cat 4.

Aye, they are predicting cat 3, currently cat 2 (but borderline towards 3 this morning).
The size of this storm is the most ominous. It nearly spreads across the entire gulf. Going to be alot of people getting rained on irregardless of the wind zone. I encourage all our friends in Ike's wide path to take appropriate precautions. |

Well, since you'll miss out on POTCO's double gold bonanza, hopefully Ike will wash up some real treasure from the murky depths of the sea and drop it on your porch. Keep your bathtub full of emergency water (rum runs out - just ask Gunner.)

Wind has been blowing from time to time since about 5:00. Power went out for an hour, but fortnately has been restored (for now). So far, about 3 minutes of moderate rain fall.
And, we are still online for the eye. About 3-4 hours until we get the brunt of it. Should be an interesting day tomorrow. Spent the day today constructing my "Ike Resistant Bunker". Complete boarding up, stowing away, making the ship tight. Got everything out of the yard except the dog - whose is out there in the wind fast asleep. And we all know to let sleeping dogs lie. Poor guy is going to get one seriously unfortunate wake up if he doesn't hurry up and decide to come inside! Have already had to make one serious decision. When the power went out earlier the call was - (1) leave the refrigerator plugged in and have stirred margaritas, or (2) plug the blender into the generator. I'm sure none of you need for me to explain what transpired. In the immortal words of Randy Quaid (circa 1980 Miller Lite Commercials) - "I'll get back to you soon with more details...." errr, ummmm - as I am able. |

Yes good luck.
I've been watching the news and it doesn't look good. Two people had been rescued only to say that next time they'll listen and leave. I feel sorry for anyone there. I couldn't live in a palce knowing that there's a chance every year to lose my house. |
