I've named all the ships differently, but they stay the same when I "upgrade" - Ali's light ships were different, but the normal and war were the same - the sloops were both Sea Lion and the galleons were both Red Dragon. I didn't have any frigates before the war one...it's the White Wolf.
Piper's the same deal - she's gone through the three sloops, all named Shadow Runner, and the three galleons, all named Shadow Dragon. Like on Ali, I didn't bother with frigates, but when I get a war one it'll be the Shadow Wolf. The Dragon and Wolf names for galleons and frigates are sort of givens now...
