Reason: Merged consecutive posts

What the heck is up with posts being edited by the mods to merge them together?

Are you really that strapped for disk space?

the reason they do this is to reduce spamming so other members can read though threads easier

if u have to say something after you post just go back to your last one and hit the edit button and add on to that it will save mods time in having to merge your posts

Something like that could fall under a couple of our policies here on the forums depending on the situation:

Cross-posting/Multiple Posting/Bumping
This is copying posts/threads several times throughout the forum or consecutive (one right after another) replies to a thread or posting to bump a thread to the top for no logicial or beneficial reason. One thread per new subject / one reply needed (use the Edit feature if you need to add something). Repeat/cross-postings will be removed/moved/merged as needed. You may bump your thread once every 24 hours, but any additional bumps will be deleted and you may receive a warning for the continued misuse of the 'bump'.

Spamming
"Spam" refers to posting identical and/or irrelevant messages to one thread or many different threads that have nothing to do with the intended subject, or posts that disrupt a thread or fill the message board with clutter. Mass PMing people you don't know or who haven't invited you to PM them, posting for the sole purpose of boosting your post count, threads with the sole purpose of posting "what I did today..." (this is a forum, not a blog or chatroom), excessive bumping of threads (you are allowed one bump per thread twenty-four (24) hours after the last post created in the thread!), one or two letter replies (i.e. ok, LOL, Yes, agreed, nods), and excessive use of smileys as a response are all considered "spam".

In most cases that my few posts were edited/combined, they definately did NOT meet this part of the offered explanation, "for no logicial or beneficial reason". No complaints though, I understand the reasons and have already tried to combine my own posts accordingly.

The multiple posts in a single thread usually gets started from us wanting to quote and respond to various other participants comments, which are in multiple posts, not just one. Would be neat if there was a way to quote more than one comment/post without having to do any major copying/pasting, etc.

Click on the button on each post you want to quote, then when you click on 'Post Reply' all the quotes will be there for you to reply in a single post.

I'm not complaining, I was just wondering what the deal was.

I had not read that policy, because I've found that most policies boil down to "don't be a jerk".

Oh and a suggestion here. If a post is removed for one reason or another.....can the mod/admin that removed it please PM the person and let them know it was removed and why? I know I postred a thread, didnt see it show up and reposted it. I found later it was removed and a guildmate did the same. They were warned one more time and they would be suspended. We werent even aware the posts were goin through.

I'm sorry, but our normal policy is to only send PMs about edits or deletions if the user is actually in trouble. If we sent PMs for every little minor edit or quick deletion...we'd really never get any work done on the forums. Trying to keep these forums to a PG rating for teens and above can be a huge task at times. We often make minor edits without taking any official actions against a user. Often, these are boarderline violations and not worth the effort to make an official issue out of them. I would strongly suggest that if something like this or if you have any questions about your posts/threads to PM a mod or admin right away. They'll be happy to answer any questions you might have.
